I've been thinking of doing that on my hood for a while now. I like the JGTC style louvers. I just don't know where to go to have it done. As for your question of placement, I'd say at the rear of the hood.

Try rolling your window down then step out of the car and set the alarm. Reach into the car and unlock the door without the key...that should do it I think.
