Doing a "draw through" TBI setup with a MicroSquirt 3 (similar to a MegaSquirt 2).

A bit of the history on the car

Started as a carby setup..

Built a draw through manifold..

Ford 65mm throttle body..

Wiring is always fun..

Made a surge tank with HP pump and regulator. Bolted it to the strut tower..

Current setup..

36-1 Crank angle sensor.
Ford EDIS coil pack.
Dual spark CDI.
4x 60lb injectors (running E85).
Flex fuel sensor.
TechEdge WideBand Oxygen sensor.
4 port MAC valve to control the wastegate.
GIZZMO Knock Sensor
S13 3 core Aluminium Radiator.

Starts and idles but have yet to tune it.

Wanting to finish the brake upgrade before I start road tuning it. No point building something that goes well, if you cant stop it ploughing into something..

Cheers.

The 2 main reasons for the "Draw Through" setup is:
a.) To remove the need for an intercooler.
b.) Not to modify the original Sigma Turbo manifold (only around 400 ever made)
.
I have made/modified  a few MPI manifolds, ie:

and will most likely use them in future builds, but I was curious to see how well this will go as a draw through.

The other major advantage is the evaporative cooling effect of the E85 as its going through the turbo, which is much like injecting water before the turbo. The air/fuel charge, while going through the turbo, actually cools the charge more than going through a medium size intercooler (in theory). Cooler charge means more air in the cylinders which equals more power.
It also mean less heat being blown back into the engine bay from the intercooler.

The main disadvantage of this setup is accuracy in the fuel delivery.
It's not BAD, it just can be better with port injection.

Cheers.
