  1. My 1986 Conquest TSI that I purchased recently as a project but I recently sold my other vehicle, now need to drive it every day and it isn't quite ready for that to I need to get something a bit more practical. Engine runs strong, turbo spools properly... seems to have a vac advance prob w/ distributer as it hesitates a bit under full boost and heavy load. Engine runs hot as the fans don't work as they should w/ the temp sensors disconnected. Seems ok if manually running fans w/ jump wire. Interior in good shape, center radio bezel missing... a/m radio works and is included... plugs in to wiring harness and works properly. Everything else seems to work as it should... shifts smoothly up and down through the gears... no synchro issues at all... nearly new cat-back exhaust. Can be a project car, not needing much to be a good driver, or a donor car with tons of working and good parts for another StarQuest. I'm looking for $1900 obo. I am located in Wharton, NJ. Please call with any questions... 973-885-5043. -Cory
  2. Indiana, you are good sir... exactly right on the rear diff. mounts. Ordered them today. Thanks again!
  3. Can't thank you guys enough for all your help! I'll let you know what I find. The diff. mounts make a whole lot of sense with the noise I am heering... it doesn't feel like anything is actually broken in the rear, but I almost felt like the it was hitting something likt the exhaust when it moved. I have to get under there and check it out. Thanks again.
  4. Thanks so much for all the feedback guys... I wanted to be a little clearer about the hesitation... it doesn't quite fall on it's face, it feels more like it drops a cylinder... I believe the plugs have recently been changed but could this be an injector or plug/wire issue? Secondly... I am niticing a rather ofputting clunk come from the rear upon starting off in first gear, and even more evident in reverse.... The guy who brought the car to me dolly towed the car, and i fear he did damage as i didn't think Starquest were supposed to be towed that way... What now??
  5. I have a cat back exhaust, and a K&N filter (not a full cold air intake)... is an electronic boost controller my next logical performance booster? How much boost can I run without shortening engine life considerably? I read a lot about injectors on here... is that something I need to mess with first?? Any and all insight would be most appreciated. Cory
  6. My Name is Cory, I'm new to the forums here, and hopefully you all can help. I bought a 1986 Conquest TSI today and all is well so far except... 83k miles, driven only 3k in the last few years though... Car hesitates consistantly under load/boost at 3200 rpms. Compression check good, turbo spools properly, no bleeding capacitors on the ECM (looked there as was a problem causing the same symptoms on a 91 Stealth RT/TT) and otherwise nothing visibly wrong. Could this be something very simple??
  7. Also, with a cat back exhaust, and K&N filter (not full intake), and everything else stock, what can I safely turn the boost up to with an EBC with minimal risk? (sorry for not posting in the forum.. a bit new to this and didn't know where to put it so you'd see it)
  8. My Name is Cory, I've read many of your posts as you've helped many people on here and I was hoping you had a recommendation for me. I bought a 1986 Conquest TSI Widebody today and all is great... 83k miles, driven only 3k in the last few years though... Car hesitates consistantly under load/boost at 3200 rpms. Compression check good, turbo spools properly, no bleeding capacitors on t...
