  1. Hey Guys, I've had my 87 in storage since I was in Highschool and finally decided to clear out the garage and get started on putting her back together, only to find that My dirtbag brother sold my drivetrain as scrap. I found a flatty nearby for dirt cheap and was wondering if everything is compatible. I cant see why not the only thing i would imagine could be different is the Axles. My main concern being the axles since the flatty's are four luggers. Is there any weak points I might want to keep in mind with using the flatty rear and trans.. Pretty much I need the trans, driveshaft, torque tube, rear, and axles. Also the car has a brand new non jet valve head on it, the guy said the intake wouldnt fit so he figured it was for a newer model. Is there a difference between the intake ports or stud locations between the body styles? Any info would help me out alot Thanks.
  2. Thanks for all the help guys, I found a flatty for dirt cheap so this is going on the back burnefr for a whie.
  3. Yea that's a beautiful car, Gives me a goal to stride for. I hope mine looks half as good when I'm done. Looks like the exhaust routing is a little work up front. I'm just trying to figure out where to get a front sump pan. Been scouring Jeg's and Summit so far, but I havn't found one yet. Thanks for the help
  4. Thanks, I found a few other things that Tim Si put out there. That silver car looks and sounds great. I plan to go n/a carb with a 5-speed for now so it doesn't look like too bad of a swap. I'm very pleased with the fact that I can use stock 5.0 motor mounts and fab something up for the trans mount on stock quest cross-member and it slides right in with the front sump pan. The rest of it just seems like minor tubing tweaks and a few brackets to fab here and there, which is peanuts when you watch that oh so encouraging video of the finished product. Was that car a 5-speed? If so how was the shifter Location in the car? My half asst estimated measurements puts it perfectly in the hole. Also does anyone know what slave cylinder to use? I was thinking I'll grab a universal one from wilwood or something, whatever I can get my hands on and fab a mount. I keep seeing something about a toyota slave cylinder but not what car or truck it was out of.
  5. Ok, so after about 8 years two kids a house a bike and countless other projects I decided to pull the quest out of storage and finish the build I started, only to discover that my scum-bag brother stole pretty much my entire drivetrain minus the short block and hauled it off to the bone yard for scrap. The fool even took the alternator bracket  .... So not having the heart to part out another one of these cars that are becoming harder and harder to come by I decided to go the v8 route. I'm not a big fan of ford but the 5-O seems like the most straight forward choice being cheap, a dime a dozen, and easy to make power with. Does anyone have any info to help me source out some parts before I get started? Like what mounts, headers, cross-members, a good heads up on what I will have to modify. It seems like the t-5 tranny would be right at home in the tunnel. Any info is much appreciated?
