The more I "LEAN INTO IT".........the more it moves toward ZERO RESISTANCE. AND the POINTER is moving SMOOTHLY towards zero. No jumping around.......no "HIC-UPS" unlike the bad one.

If  you plan to do this test and need to buy a voltmeter, Sears has a nice one that is both analog and digital.  The sweep needle is above the digital display.  I think I paid about $50 for mine.

We can do this test with our tps in the car right?  Does the battery need to be connected?  Sorry, I just want to try this now  ;D

This is resistance.. So, it doesn't matter if the battery is hooked up or not..  I've done it in the car, and with a spare TPS on my bench..  You just wanna see if it operates smoothly as you slowly open the throttle... ;D

OK, this is the OTHER "INSPECTION". Use the TOP pin and the LEFT LOWER pin. The "STANDARD VALUE" is 3.5 to 6.5 KILO OHMS. Why am I not surprised that the BAD TPS also failed this test. :smile.gif

Now then............Once you have a GOOD TPS.......you can ADJUST IT using  VOLTS. Open manual to page 14-32, 14-33, 14-34   Make the little harness adapter above. Start the car, let it warm up. Adjust the VOLTAGE at idle to 0.48-0.52 volts. When you open the throttle all the way you should see AROUND 4.5 -5.5 VOLTS. You might make 4 of those wires......you'll need them for the ISC adjustment. wink.gif

Wayne/John,
Can you get a close up pic of the ends of the harness adapter?

They look to be the same size as I used for the fuel pump test port's jumper wire..

Haha, that didn't help.. wink.gif

What I've always wanted to know, is how do you take off some of the wire's sheathing like that?  I need to know before my A/F goes in, and I can't figure out how to take off just a middle section...
Hmmn, maybe I should just play with some wire and figure it out.. ;D

Look closer..............that is not a "midway" strip.  Cut  the insulation about 2" from the END OF THE WIRE...........pull the insulation off about 1/2"..........THEN strip  just the end off! wink.gif  CLEVER! ;D

Sneaky... ;D
But in my case, that's not going to work... For a A/F gauge, I don't wanna have to disconnect a wire from the ECU to get the sheathing off...  Maybe I could burn it a little bit..Just to the point where it gets soft, then I can pull it off without damaging the ECU connection..
