Not to be a negative Nancy here...

My knowledge of these cars is limited, but i still have worked on a few of them....

My advice would be....

Don't buy it unless you've got some money to burn. Yes, they look cool and are fun to drive. But after the warranty is up in, 2 years? I would not want to own that car.

One stupid cheap electronic component goes bad, you will be shelling out a couple grand. I see it all day on mercedes, and Audi's are just as cheaply made as

as the new mercedes and BMW's.

Most new cars are good for 10 years or 100k. After that, you throw them away or recycle them. The best thing to do, would be to buy one used, drive it, and sell or trade it

in before the warranty is up. Or lease it.

If you want a nice luxury car, Get a Lexus.

See here......the problem with that theory is........I didn't want an ugly car.

:rofl3:

That's too funny!! But he does have a point. I get the insurance calls for these cars all day long. An insurance adjuster called me for a uesed door mirror on an Audi S4, I located a few in So Cal for get this....$400 USED!!!!!!!! I have to ad at least 20% on top of that and was afraid to even tell the insurance guy cuz I didn't want to seem like a fool. But when I told him $500 bucks, he said "THATS CHEAP!! ARE YOU SURE ITS THAT CHEAP?"!!!!!

I was blown away, appearantly the mirrors are OVER $3000K DOLLARS U.S. FOR JUST ONE!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable! I'd hate to see service bills! Nice cars, great looking, if you can afford it...why the heck not!!

Well......my wife's the accountant, and she worked up the numbers and all and didn't even flinch. Not to mention, it's her car, not mine. She plans to pay it off in 6mo-1yr so as to not have any car payments. It's been nice to just send out a mortgage check each month and not all these other loans too....debt sucks.

The bank approval came across the fax machine and at the top it says....."You are approved for a vehicle loan of 100,000 or less"...............I opted for the "or less" part.

So we have the check in hand waiting for the plane to take me to Reno to pick it up. then I'll put her Chrysler up for sale locally.

I've done my research into Audis....scoured Audi forums, etc. I owned the twin-turbo V6 version of the last A6 and to be honest, parts averaged about 1.5X what my Dodge/Chrlysler parts have been. Not cheap, but not outrageous. You can find wholesale discount parts distributors just like any other car. I replaced various switches and sensors, rebuilt the front suspension and would have faced a clutch replacement had we kept it much longer. There is help out there on the forums.........not as great as around here, but there is DIY help available for guys like me.

This version has been out since '05 and reports are that they are pretty reliable if taken proper care of. My repairs and maintenance are still covered by Audi till 50k miles and I'm calling today to find out what the cost is to extend it to 6yr/100kmi just for peace of mind. I don't plan to mod it.....especially since there's not a lot of aftermarket stuff available, so having it warrantied won't hurt my feelings.

BTW....AUdi claims low-mid 14's in the 1/4. I plan on verifying for myself this summer at the Late Night Drags at PIR.

Man, you coulda gotten a v6 one and another quest :character0028:

We wouldn't have been happy with the V6......half the stuff this comes standard with are extra cost options on the V6 model, but you can't buy that extra 100 HP the V6 is lacking ;) Not to mention the V8 gets better mileage on the highway, where it will be driven most.

I gotta get my son's Daytona outta the garage before I have room for a new project.

700rwhp, 6spd manual(Supra Getrag) doesn't hurt either..

I would've suggested an IS350 or an IS-F to completely destroy that A6, but you guys probably want the AWD in your area.. So, good stuff!

True, but the price tag of the 300 alone, then the extra $$$ you throw into building the motor, the supra trans? That is a chunk of change, not to mention stock is nice, sometimes.

You sure about the mileage? Yahoo autos says different. (Yahoo autos was the first result in googling). Not that i am arguing, i'm looking for a 05 3.2 myself. I wanted a 03ish with the 2.7t but the 05+ look some much better in my opinion.

Reading across the Audi forums, virtually identical cars but with the 3.2 vs 4.2, the guys report 1-2 MPG better highway mileage with the V8.....the car is around 4,200lbs after all.

There are TONS of 3.2s out there to be had at good prices. We had a hard time sifting through all of them. Some of them made it hard to pass up, but we were set on the V8 in the long run.

We owned a previous model 2.7t with the 6spd manual trans....it was a blast and much more mod-friendly.........but the maintenance and upkeep is far more labor and cost intensive with the 2.7t. Not to mention, the new ones are light years ahead in terms of options.

The other serious consideration before deciding on this was an '04 4.2L widebody A6 (previous body style)......but the interior is so much less luxurious and it's even smaller inside. She also didn't want a repeat of the car she already had.

Justpaus, this one will be stock as it's my wife's car. AWD was one of the biggest factors....plus, she wants to be spoiled with all the amenities. Powerful, quiet luxo-cruiser that's still a blast in the twisties.

Got her home and all cleaned up....pics will come shortly.

Found out the hard way on the way home that the tire pressure warning system works perfectly, so the day after I got home, I had all new Goodyear Eagle F1 Ultra performance, all-seasons installed. 245/40/18's

Averaged 25MPG from Reno to home....635 miles of mixed terrain including multiple mountain passes.

Also found out the polished wheels aren't paolished.....but chrome. And there's 5 of them.

It's an absolute dream to drive!!
