randy
How do you get the stock tach to work with megasquirt?
importwarrior
what ignition system are you using? if using EDIS Ford style this might help you. http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=78932
scott87star
If megasquirt is running your stock coil then just hook it up like it was stock. If you're using a CDI amplifier box such as MSD you can use the MSD tach out or megasquirt tach out but you have to either jumper the power resistor in the factory tach circuit (on the instrument cluster backside) or use a relay coil to mimic the factory coil, http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms1extra/MS_Extra_Hardware_Manual.htm#tachoout. It would be the High Voltage option. The second high voltage option in that link is the same as importwarrior's above.
psu_Crash
Jumping out the power resistor seems like a much better way to go. Those large voltage spikes I create using an inductor to drive the tach must be creating some unwanted noise somewhere.
Shelby
MSD is a multi-pulse system that why the ecu goes nuts , that's what the tach adaptor is for it changes that to a single signal for the tach so it can read it Edited October 19, 2014 by Shelby

I was trying to tell him WHY the msd would not work with the stock tach , the tach adaptor is msd's answer to the problem , but not the only answer
