Feeler: NikoFab Mud Flaps

Good Day Gentlemen,

I've been asked by a couple of you about the plausibility of fabricating mud flaps. As usual, such an endeavor requires a gauging of interest. So for right now...money not being a criteria...who's actively searching or will be searching for mud flaps?

This is purely me gauging interest. I won't even try putting a group buy together for this until I have closed out both the second run of Rear Hatch Spoilers and the Floor Mat buy (too much to keep track of!).

Cheers and thanks,

Nick

I have entertained the idea of having @ least (1) full set for some time. But haven't been able to find a "stock" pair in excellent to new shape @ all. Much less for the prices they are bringing; in the shape they are in. Non-painted, original black, w/ correct attachments all there. Like new, or new preferable.

Damn, you're a glotton for punishment!

You might want to have people list what prices they'd be willing to pay in addition to the interest.

I looked into doing these a few years back and a number of people were interested until they found out they's be $500 per set. If you can keep it under $200 a set, I bet you'd do good, but you'll have a hard time getting them made for that. You're looking at 4 2-piece molds that will allow for some form of structuring being built into the part where they mount. I know it's too early for you to specualte what you can sell them for, but if you have a general idea of what people will spend, then when you talk to your supplier you'll know right away if their prices will work for what people here want to pay--- If nobody here wants to pay more than $200 but your supplier will want $300, then you know right away it will be a no-go.

Well Jerry my friend, these would be brand new. I would be bastardizing a set of mine for the digitizing and molding process, much like I'm doing in the air dam group buy. The mounting hardware should be pretty straight forward...it's the flaps that will run the predominant cost. As such, I'm actually thinking of making them separate or in sets (you'd be able to order just flaps, just hardware, or the whole smash).

Thanks as always Mark. Maybe I am a glutton...but I just really like doing this stuff. :)

Granted that because there are four separate pieces, the mold cost is going to be pre-eminent. It is indeed too early to speculate on cost, but I do believe that with enough interest, that it can be done for something reasonable. I'd love to do these in the $300.00 range...$200.00 is a bit too optimistic in my opinion...especially with hardware. But we'll have to wait and see...still researching.

Cheers,

Nick

Id be down if they came in around $200 to $300 with hardware.

Like I said in my response to Mark, I think $200 is highly optimistic. My target is to be in or around the $300 range. Let me get the wheels turning and I'll let you guys know what can be done.

I was thinking of trying to get a set in carbon fiber. I have three sets in good shape already.

If you get this going and the price is right I may get a set from you.

I'm wondering if CF would hold up considering their placement on the vehicle? I know alot of guys don't get the CF airdams for the same reason. Anyway, I'll be looking into it and let you guys know what I can come up with.

Sounds good, its awesome that you have been able to accomplish so much for the community lately. I wanted to support the jdm spoiler run(lollouvers) but I knew you would end up making something I could support. Any idea on paint? Unpainted or customer choice from you?

Hey my pleasure! These will be done in black TPO, which looks good on it's own, but is also readily paintable. If you want them painted, I could easily get them to Mark (Burton) to do it since he's only a hop, skip, and a jump from me. And that way you'd know you're getting a great paint job, as well as supporting another member.

Cheers,

Nick
