Rear Hatch Privacy Covers

Hey Everyone,

I'm not sure if this topic has been covered/offered(or even wanted) but I'd like to get a count on how many people would like an alternative to their deteriorating hatch cover. I'm in the process of fabbing one up for myself and would like to consider making more for others. The product that I would offer will utilize the front connection bar to the speaker shelves (I'll give a discount for those willing to offer a core). The bi-fold paneling will be made from sheet aluminum and the fabric hinge section will be replaced with a HD piano hinge. The carpet- I'll be using a thick nap speaker box material adhered with an auto grade adhesive. I will be working on the prototype over the next two-three weeks so bare with me. I'm all for constructive criticism but please keep suggestions/comments/banter on this topic to a minimum. Pm's or email is preferred. Projected cost of time and material to make a run of ten is between $130-140 plus S&H. Let me know what you think and thank you for your interest.

Update:

--> Carpet is included but limited to black at this time.

--> Privacy covers will be made from .063 5052 sheet aluminum with a milled/brushed finish on the underside.

--> Piano Hinge is aluminum as well and will span the full length of the cover. Spot welded

What I need:

--> Small piece of maroon and black carpet

--> The part that connects the privacy cover to the speaker shelves

Sorry for the threadjack,

Sometime soon, i'm doing some with 1/4 black PVC sign board and some spare tire boards with reproduction "spare instruction" decals.

N8... I thought he was speaking of the "bi-fold privacy cover," not the floor cover to the spare? ;)

DUH!...You're right Jerry,

I read it wrong and pictured something else. That's why my avatar looks like it does.

I don't look as dumb as I am!

I went to a steel fabricator a few months back to get an estimate and they quoted me 290ish for an order of 50 and upwards of 340 for a run of 10. I didnt follow up with them at that price point, lol.
