  1. My Rx7's. I am selling my quest i cannot figure out the problem and have no time for it. My rx7's are not only fast but handle great and have had many fun summers with them.
  2. Thanks Yea i fixed what that hack messed up for the most part. It had no oil pressure for who knows how long so i just built the junkyard engine since that was known good. I have the old block but its been sitting out side(it wasnt in too good of shape) now has rust in the cylinders but good if you want to strip it and have it bored over.
  3. Well bleed the lifters and it dont run much better. Its in the for sale section. Not so much giving up on it as i need the money for my Rx7's and i think the quest deserves a better owner(dont like me). I just dont have the time to fool with it anymore and need the space. I did the best i could and tried to fix the mess the previous owner made, fixed the engine(major issue), but cant get it to run right. $800 and it's yours i have extras too. Thanks guys for all of you help.
  4. I have a 87 quest up for sale. I bought the car with a blown engine and swaped a junk yard engine that was known good and i tore it down and had the crank re surfaced and new bearings and all new gaskets. I just cannot get it to run right. It has good compression on all cylinders and has good oil pressure but want to run on 2 cylinders. I really dont have the time to mess with it. The body is ok shape needs paint and has a few rust spots(none on the frame common on quest). The engine has the balance shafts removed, new timing chain and gears, hks blow off, new plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and a new clutch kit. The front bumper is off since the previous owner ran into a ditch and bent the bumper support so it will a new support but i have the bumper cover. The trans feels good(i did drive it with the blown engine in all the gears) and the rear did not clunk. The interior is black and in good shape and mostly complete. Any other questions just PM me. It has a tittle and is in my name. Sorry about all of the the leaves i live on a street named oak tree lane and guess how it got its name... yeah oak trees and they make a mess. If you look at all my previous post most of them were about trying to get this thing to run and i just dont have the time or money to put into it. I have 2 other Rx7's i need money for so i am firm on the price.   5. Yup it broke. My dad got it out pretty easy. Just need to find time to work on it.
  6. Well guys i decided to take off the rocker arms to see if the lifters were pumped up and all of them were. So i was bleeding them and puting it all back together and suddenly i broke off one of the bolts that hold the cap down and boy am i not happy. Now i went to get my drill and the battery is dead so i could drill and use a extractor thingy. Think that could have been a major issue. I looked at the wrong torque spec glad i broke only one. But still mad i broke it. Thats what i get for rushing(its cold out).
  7. Well i did find the chain was off but fixed that a page or two back. I guess it is the same so i should just find a good set of injectors. It has a new head gasket, bearings, and all other gaskets. When i took the compression test the engine had not started ever yet and had alot of gas in the cylinder so think they may have been washed out. It was a good running engine and everything looked really good when i took it apart and had the crank turned and over sized bearings. It seems like it is running on 2 cylinders but compression is the same all around even if my gauge was off. I am going to try to time it again and see what happens.
  8. And if anybody is free this sunday(weather permitting) i would really appreciate somebody coming by to check this thing out and help me get it going. I can pay someone to help me get this thing running and let me know what exactly is wrong with it. I am in annapolis right before the bay bridge. The compression was a little over 100psi on all cylinders, has oil pressure when it starts, has a real bad miss fire and back fires through the intake and exhaust real bad, and will not rev over 1500 rpm and does not really respond to throttle input. I have replaced the wires, cap and rotor, and plugs(2 Sets) NGK. Now the guy before me said he replace the fuel pump with a walbro 255(i think one of those ebay pumps) do you think that could cause it to miss like that and back fire? I really want to get that other intake to at least change the injectors to try that.
  9. I think the injectors are leaking, it is a 88 intake in a 87 quest so a couple sensors dont plug up right, and need some thing that i know works. I am pretty sure it is not that bad to take the intake off in the car. I am a mechanic and those 6.0 ford tow truck engine bays make this look spacious. Same with my TT rx7 those twin turbos were fun to take out when i had all the emissions and was working in Feb. weather and gravel driveway with the turbos right agains the frame rail. It is still backing firing like mad and a guy has one that the TB was just rebuilt, and came off a perfectly good running 87. I am getting lazy now that i work on cars for a living and just dont have the time i use to to test every little thing(and i have no clue about this car) so if i have something that i know works i just elimated quite a bit. Only thing left will be the mas and timing.

  11. Well it still will not run right. I am going to try to buy a known good intake setup with injectors and all the sensors to elimate the injectors and crap. It is going to be from a 87. Think my issure my be due to me putting the 88 engine and intake in and pluging everything up that i could. I am hopeing the 87 intake will make it work. Then i will try setting the timing again.
  12. Hi, looking for a intake taken off a recently running 87 quest with the injectors, tb, sensors and vaccum lines, ect. Needs to be in good shape and the lower the miles the better. Want to put it on my quest to elimate all of these from the list why it is not running. It is a 88 engine in a 87 quest so i want the 87 intake setup so it plugs up the same. I dont have too much to spend on this, i just want to get my quest running. Also looking for a good stock MAS. Thanks, Matt

  14. I hope i can have this on the road soon. Hope this week i will grab the timing light from work again and re time it and hopefully it will run good enough to take it to work and fix the front right tie rod. And what ever else is wrong. Also have a guy picking up my 2nd gen rx7 and need to get my 3rd gen rx7 finished to get it ready to have the enigne rebuilt at PFS.
  15. I am trying man. I am working 12-13 hour days during the week and like 8 on saturday. I am tired by the weekend so what little work that does get done goes into the quest. I really havent even been hanging out with my friends because i cant stay out late and tired. I want to get it running and get a good base coat of paint or primer to make it look good and polish up the wheels.
