First things first. Never ever open the cap on radiator or remove any coolant hose while engine is hot! Safety first!

While car is at idle make sure that your primary fan turns on. This should happen at around 185-195 degrees. It will run till temperature drops and shot off.
There is also a secondary fan that will kick in at around 220 deg in case it's real hot out and you are running ac and other things.
So make sure your fans are good before anything.
If that's good? Go onto the next thing.

Have you changed your coolant recently? If yes ? Did you replace your thermostat and place it in the right direction. Also after coolant change system needs to burp all the air out. Also another thing is to make sure your radiator is not partially blocked and it could need roded out.
Only other thing that could cause this condition would be blown head gasket and there are kits you can buy to test for gases present in your coolant system.

Well in my neighborhood  they call it pop can lol. That works very well especially when you stack bunch of them together.
