Toyo Tires in SHP Sizing

Are you asking about the T1R's? If so I've run them and really liked them. (on a lowered truck) 255 40 16's And I pushed them very hard. They lasted allot longer then I expcted like 20 could have pushed them to 25K but that's not my style. They ware very true, they perform well and give good feedback. Most I could push to was 80MPH in a 20MPH marked off ramp. noise is really a marginal category for me in the world of "performce tire" but it was not too bad. The do pull bad on pavement expanshion joints or uneven pavement but I also expect that from a performace tire. I think they were total crap in the wet, would not make traction at all, would just randomly let go in turns in the wet, but it's also a truck so no weight in back.

I guess in my overall review I would say if your getting them on the cheep buy them, if your paying full kilt for them I would personally put the money towards P-zeros (though they have changed them now so I don't know how they are now)

I primarily run (for the most part) Toyo tires. I have run the T1R as a summer tire on my 89' SHP. EXCELLENT Tires! My tire guy races, owner of the shop I've dealt with for 38-9 years now. I consider him a "Guru" in the tire world. He suggested these T1R's maybe (8) years ago, offering me this info: they are considered as close to a race tire as a street tire can come. BTW: His shop is the #1 tire seller of Toyo on the East Coast (a lil hole in the wall kinda shop), does "All" mounting on cars by hand/jacks. I trust his knowledge, from the many years dealing w/ him. Also to mention the friendship acquired between us. This past summer I went to a "Dot Approved" race tire for the summer street: Toyo R888... & they are "The Glue," but remember, they are for the track really; not the street.( & they are NOISY)

I also run Nitto's on my Stang: NT05's. There are many upper end trick tires from Europe as well. A good contact on "Tire Opinons/Options" would be "Convette" on here. He really goes through some tires, (more so than I) & I'm pretty sure he'd give you some good info. GL ;)

IDK I would call them a race tire or even close to one. I expect to ware a race tire out in a max of 4-5K on the road if not less. T1R's ware way to long and are not soft enough at all to call even close to a race tire.

They will however perform more then most would even care to push them in most cases. I would call them very good for the money if you can find them on a deal

They work great but suck in the rain.

I Noticed that too. The tread design has no side escape for the rain water. That's why. They claim the v shaped grooves diplace water, they displace it right into the solid ridge band that has zero slots for side flow.

Look at most other tires out there and you wont see that.

Yeah that is exactly what my dad said about them one day when I was parked with the wheel to the side. He's like wow serious vectored tred there and some big rain groves but the funnel the watter in rather then out. I also hated they would not throw water out the sides as I love splashing people in the rain. Harley also did this with there motercycle tires too. The design would funnel water in rather then out (not that you really want to ride in the rain)

My BFG All Terrain have the same tread flaw. I never did it myself but lots of people get the 60 dollar tire groover (hot knife) and cut slits in the solid outer rib for water and snow escape. Vastly improves the wet weather traction.

I will probably sipe mine at least because it rains here :)
