  1. Ahh ok.....thought it might have the 87 seats installed......black seats?
  2. What interior and hood does it have?
  3. Hell back in the early 80's I was getting 35-40 mpg consistently at home in my Renault on my round trip to work.......nowadays at home (N.Ireland) my dads citroen gets over 50 mpg all day...
  4. we actually used to use a welding tip drilled out a tad as a restrictor since our oil feed lines flow too much for the holeset.........
  5. I agree......most 5.0 Stangs I ran off a light either spun out or bogged but when they actually hooked they started pullin quick.....I always like the LX hatch better......I remember takin on a 93 Fox Cobra on a hiway run with the SC......pegged the speedo at 6 oclock on the clock on that run....
  6. My brother actually has a twin Mikuni setup with a cannon intake..............it was run here in Miami and the car it came off was supposedly in the mid 12"s..........and its actually preetty to look at and not a hack job.....very professionally done.....
  7. Looks like that one has been "sporterised" since its probably a # III which had a full length stock...........these are some of the best and most accurate bolt rifles made....unfortunately not worth too much unless you find a "jungle" or sniper version.........if you do shoot it with surplus ammo watch out for misfires and always wait at least 5-7 seconds before racking out the dud round since they have a tendency to go bang 2 or 3 seconds after the misfire....
  8. Cant say I disagree with ya but this was all on the street and coming off a light the better driver usually got the jump.......my SC (5 speed) always got the Quest maybe because I was used to getting off the line quick. Another popular car that I used to run into all the time was the Monte SS which was easy meat.......I actually thought about tradin my quest for a brand new 1990 300ZX (non turbo, couldnt afford the TT) and I test drove one.......god it was a real dog, my quest would have slaughtered it. The salesman actually thought it was quick and turned down my challenge of a hiway run against mine...heheh.....needless to say I kept it until the SC came along...
  9. The Quest did'nt actually kill the 5.0 back in the day.......I ran my brand new one against everything out there then so I pretty much know which late 80's early 90's cars could hang. I could get the 5.0 all day long off a light and if I coaxed them into my "sweet spot" on the highway I could pull on them but eventually the LX would cruise past me at the 110-115 mark. I took out the 300Z, Z28, 280Z, RX7,Corrado G60, GTI,MK 2 Supra and a few others, I "jumped" a 93 Vette at 65 in third and pulled him for a while but eventually the big block came in and he cruised past but all in all a stock Quest gained a lot of respect for sure. I traded up to a 89 Supercoupe which would pull on a quest all day for a big car.....I loved that Ford....ahh, the old days.
  10. L6 = basically an autobox 635 with leather dash and trim option..........not that rare but a nice care nonetheless.......lets see the pics. What sort of shape was it in?
  11. Good news.......good luck and keep your chin up.
  12. It just takes a while to get back into it......I've carried and shot for years and when I havent practiced for a few months it takes a week or two to get back on. I know it sounds weird but blurring the target as Chip says works just fine for me, I KNOW where I want my shots to go, relax, point, squeeze, repeat using my first round impact as a signpost. It works well, I regularily outshoot my buddy who is a Navy Seal and VERY good. I think its all about relaxing, knowing your weapon, trusting it and letting it do its thing, SEEING your rounds go where you want them to go and making it happen.....not too sure how to impart that knowledge on someone though, LOL. I carry a CZ75 Semicompact full of Golden Sabres and feel capable of going into any situation with this setup. Another thing I do at the range is first practice squeezing off some test rounds to "settle in" then move up to rapid double and triple taps with the first shot aimed at the belly and finish off the session with "draw and shoot" from the holster where there is no aiming...........I find that when you get good at this (not that every range is comfortable with that) your overall accuracy improves BUT it takes time and lotsa practice and head shots (showboating)are doable all day.
  13. I say for a $3k daily beater thats reliable and cheap to maintain go American.......I've been doing it for years...buy a good looking domestic that has been well maintained and drive the crap out of it for 1-2 years doing minimal maint unless something breaks, just change oil/filter regular. I usually buy ONLY a V6 or V8 since these are the motors the domestics build well. I usually buy a Tbird/Cougar V8 or V6 up to 98 or a Bonneville up to 99 or ANY model Crown Vic/grand Marquis if you dont mind a little more gas consumption (Cops and Taxis cant be wrong). Mind you, the 2000 GM I have now gets the same or better mpg than the V6 Bonneville or Tbird/Cougar. All these cars come loaded too, leather, elect seats/windows, keyless entry, remote trunk release, premium sound, etc. You really dont lose much on a $2-3k car loaded with options and where parts are cheap unlike the smaller Jap/Euro 4 bangers......just my 02.
  14. I gotta say I miss the guys and the Conquest scene despite my love/hate relationship with the car......I was always experimenting and pushing the car to the limits........thats why I've blown 3 motors.......ALWAYS fuel issues.....I now have the Magna setup with SDS sitting here so one of these days....Mike and me were big buds and I think his # is here someplace...maybe I'll call him..
