michigidi
That looks like a big turbo. T4 exhaust housing maybe? That's a pretty big exhaust wheel. It could be the closeup to . A/R is also big. This means slow spool (turbo lag), but great topend. For the starion motor w/turbo only I'd go with a 50 ish. a/r.
JustPaus_88TSi
I wouldn't worry about it too much. We can spool large turbos just fine due to the large displacement and long stroke. You just have to match it right while knowing the flow limitations of the stock head. Can't try an spool a larger compressor wheel as fast as a smaller one and not expect to get choked up. A .70 on the cold side(assuming that's what you meant, based on the original info) would be fine depending on what you want the car to perform like.. Auto-X type racing, not a chance.. LOL Top end highway runs, dragstrip use.. Sure. The stock TD05 turbine housing roughly translates to a 0.57 A/R, although i'm not sure what the compressor housing size is. Mike K posted this info years ago about his setup(built block, ported head, Tim C cam, mpi, tubular header etc.. T04B .60 A/R 60-1 with a split tang .70 hotside O trim. 2900 - 10 psi 3100 - 13 psi 3500 - 18psi I say .58 - .70 is your optimal hot side A/R. Also I feel an O trim T4 trim to be a very good trim in a .70 A/R hotside. I wouldn't consider that much lag at all. Eeaston had this to say about a larger A/R..I run a stage 5 T-3 turbine with a .86 AR and it is a little slow on the uptake. I hit about 10 PSI by around 3000 RPMs. After that it takes off and hits 17 a few hundred later. That's also a T3, not a T4 so it'll be different. But then again, it's a stg 5. CaliConquestAlex
If you don't want it let me know. I'm in the market for a new turbo with a stage 5 turbine.
