because they don't weigh a ton like a V-8, performance parts all over the place, parts don't cost a fortune, parts available at any GM dealship, auto parts stores stock parts for them, easier to swap in than a V-8....and the list goes on. Even a 3.8 makes more sense than some of these other conversions being done. Syclone/typhoon 4.3 would be the ultimate but kinda hard to find. I do have an 86 Astro that would be a great donor, and an extra 4.3 sitting in storage. Also have a 96 S-10 pickup with 180K on it that I bought new. Way more dependable than a turbo 2.6, better fuel economy and it has more torque and HP than my 87 Starion. If I had the time, I would do the swap.
