strang3majik
i tried out that linux nimblex and it worked great on my laptop. You can run it from a CD to try it, and if you like it, it has an icon on the desktop to install it. Much like windows, but, without the bugs...though, it does have a lack of game support if your into gaming. by the way, whats up man??? find you another quest yet Edited November 2, 2008 by strang3majik
j-hanson
yes... my programmer brother put it on my stuff a few years ago, and at first i hated it, but after i got around the support and driver stuff(not really a problem much anymore- ya can find stuff all over) - i like it a lot.. as a matter of fact i freak out whenever i have to use windows cause IT feels weird and stupid.. give it a honest chance and i think youll enjoy josh

jszucs
yep ubuntu is the most "complet" ill call it for lack of a better term. and will have the most support and gui interfaces. Some things will forece you to still run them comand line but buy the time you are that far with it you will be use to it and able to run from the comand line. Basic stuff can be done with the gui. Dcrasta
U run Fedora Core 9. Core 10 will be out in about 2 weeks. I find it to be the most flexible and complete distro. Not as pretty as Ubuntu, but Ubuntu didnt work with my Gateway laptop's wireless card. Fedora out of the box has worked with every intel/nvidia/Broadcom Laptop and desktop computer I have owned. http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Main_Page If you go with Fedora install Yum and its even easier to use / setup Edited November 16, 2008 by Dcrasta
iamlew
fedora core 10 just came out last nigth I believe =) Also though I don't love ubuntu, it is a great "starter" linux for sure, I reccommend it to anyone whos wants to try crossing over. I prefer slackware my self, but well the install is a lot less user friendly than ubuntu. I'd get a few "live cds" they're basically the distro on a cd, so there is no need to install it to try it out, just keep in mind they do run much slower than an actual install, so don't get angry and think "linux sucks it's all slow" it really isn't =)
