  2. these can be challenging to track down and amping around a little like mentioned above may be needed. when amping things out, don't forget your power windows will have power after the car is shutoff until you open the driver door. I would also check for corrosion at the tail light sockets, especially the white backup light sockets. if you have moisture behind your back lights, you could have a short there. jswan
  3. how many miles are on the stock engine? are you having any mechanical problems right now and how is it running at stock boost? these are all questions you need to ask yourself before cranking it up. don't do any boost mods if your having any other mechanical problems. fix the other problems first. if no mechanical problems and you do crank it up, you need to invest in a good aftermarket boost gauge to track it precisely since the factory gauge is only a computer generated estimate. i would also consider a blow off valve if i move above the 10 psi stock setting. i personnaly would not run the boost over 15psi on the stock turbo in your current setup.
  4. looking for a good used one. mine now has a giant whole in it. thanks, jswan
  5. Cosmo Krammer from Seinfeld? the 1g MAS was one of the best upgrades from a power stand point for my particular car. i think my stock MAS was a POS and i drove the car for 30K that way just thinking it never had the guts and power of my first conquest. what a loss... 1g didn't help my idle much. just my take jswan
  6. painted inset portion for sure either way. color: silver/gray/metalic as they sit now. Mike, i would have had you do these wheels but they were bent up pretty bad remember? you would have hated me after it i just know it.....lol jswan
  7. i know the faces are machined from factory, i wanted them polished out. i actually felt sorry for him because he runs his business from 9-5 every day and spent the last two months doing my wheels himself after hours since his regular guy was in a bad car accident and can't return to work... we talked about my wheels and i dropped them off before x-mas. when i went to pick them up, we disagreed about how the faces were to be finished and he knew i wasn't too jazzed. meanwhile, he had a full house of customers up front and him and i were in the back looking at the wheels and he went to get one of my tires to mount it and wouldn't you know my wife calls to discuss god knows what. i spent probably 10 minutes listening to the woman bable about nothing and then looked out of the corner of my eyes and saw him still waiting for me to get off the phone instead of jumping back up front to deal with the mob while i was on the phone. i hung up on the wife and let the man speak. he pulls out his quote notes and hangs his head down and said "you were right, its here on the notes to polish the faces...i just did it like i remember doing some in the past and forgot how you requsted them...i actually did more work than i needed the way i did it here..." in my mind, this is all pretty good customer service on the back end of things. he offered to let me take one wheel home to decide what i wanted to do and we discussed discounting from the quote if i decide to keep them... anyway, thanks for chiming in. jswan
  8. thanks for chiming in Burton, appreciate it. i know the machined marks were there as original, the clear coat on the wheel can hide it fairly well though. as for my wheel, he sanded out the faces and then recut them so they are slightly deep than the factory now. they zip when you take your finger nail down accross the cuts now. jswan
  9. its the pics that don't do the lips justice, the polishing is outstanding i feel. i'm afraid to brush the dust off them for fear of leaving the first scratches. as for the history, the wheels started off with curb rash, dings and corrosion but they were were not bent so had promise. They are SHP rims. The shop acutally cut the lips down and made repairs on the wheels as the first step. he then polished the lips out i believe, which actually polished the faces about 35-50% during the process he said. after that is where he stumbled with the directions because he was almost finished if he had just finished polishing out the faces as we discussed in the begining. instead, he put the wheels back on the lath and machined the faces to match the factory finish that he recalled from mine and others he did in the past many years ago. his machined grooves are a little deeper than the factory finish i will add but they reflect light well. last thing he did i think was paint the centers with a slightly darker metalic silver coating than stock. but i think i like them because there are now 3 tones in the wheel that give it depth on this white car where all chrome might seem bleached out. $135/each was the quote but that is now off the table if i don't request redoing the faces, which he will need to basically start over. 10. we should shop together.. discount comming if i keep'em this way, which is likely. thanks for your take T. jswan
  11. wow, amazing how many of my buds responded to this and most of you have actually seen the car and what the wheels looked like b/f. i feel like we are all in Branson again. UlrichWolf, i figured you'd be one of the first to respond so i didn't call your right out of the gate, i will give you a buzz later this week. Intercooled Flatty, i'm doin fine..its been a bit busy for me with the new baby and i had't checked the meet planner so this is the first time i heard of the second comming...its a bit early in the year but don't rule me out, i will talk to the co-pilot K.Swan. D. Venable, Muzz and Bmeyers, whats a good post without you fellas chiming in, thanks? You guys going back to Branson this year? swan
  12. Hey all, just got my wheels done and visited the shop to take a look before they mounted them and found they didn't follow my direction to polish the lips and the face. instead, he machined the face (tiny grooves). if my car was black or red, i would have left them there to redo the faces to a polished look because i think they pop better on those two colors. however, since my car is white, i thought i might be able to pull the machined face and polished lips off fairly well so i took one wheel home to get an idea on which way to go. should be some photos here below to take a look. let me know how you all are polishing your wheels out and what are your likes/dislikes? opinions welcome thanks, jswan
  13. mine is burgandy too and if it wasn't such a pain, i would swap it all for black or even better tan if i could find it. However, i have two kids and no time so i will be just piecing some black into it starting with the door panel hand rests and see where it goes.... if you have the square piece we were talking about earlier, i will buy that off of you. jswan
