Charcoal Canister removal & Catch Can Mod Good/Bad Idea?

Hi,

I came up with this sys after reading a bunch about the breather, crank vents, road draft tubes etc.. I didnt want my oil spilling on the ground, and my car had the charcoal canister disconnected when I got it, so I had to check the manual how it was suppose to be. After alot of consideration I came up with my current setup. I found that the can on the side of the air can seemed similar to an oil catch can, so I mounted it where my vac can was, im running the minimum vac lines so its not used... The valve cover breather is connected to the side pipe, the top pipe is just a short piece that lets it breathe and the bottom goes to the oil pan. What does you guys think? will it work ok? Does the oil pan port need to be capped? right now i just have the oil returning to it... Think the can may be to small? I am just about to get my car on the road, so i havent tried it yet, figured id get some opinions first.

Thanks!

thanks, I have some line and a port in the elbow after my GM MAF, I can try and run it to that. Think I will also put a small piece of breather filter material in it to prevent any oil from getting that far, to the intake, that was my main concern.

IMO that should be fine.

The only difference than stock, other than the location, is the top hose is not going to the accorian hose which provides some suction at boost.

At part throttle and decel air will flow the reverse way into the VC because the engine is sucking through the PCV valve.

As long as there are no restrictions from the VC into or out of the seporator it should breath fine.

And yes (at boost) I consider a "check valve" a restriction. ;)
