Got a 4th of July show to hit up tomorrow ... so I wanted to wrap up the strut bar installation that I hadn't installed after doing the rear suspension in the car.  The trunk was still all torn apart and I didn't want it that way for the show.

I started with a test fit of the TEP bar itself.  I didn't fit, and not being an adjustable bar I had to raise the car off the ground, loosen the 3 nuts on the top of the struts and pry them inwards, toward each other, until the bar slipped on.  I must say, that was a pain to do by myself.  I did eventually get it on though.  Crappy picture b/c it was late at night and dark till I got it on.

The next step was to cut holes in the carpet trunk liners.  Thank you to TexasQuest for sending me some photos of how he went about his b/f I got started.   I took some measurements, the TEP bar sits about 6 1/2 inches up from the trunk.  Determining the depth measurement was tricky b/c it's hard to measure that distance b/c it's though to know how the carpeted pc. sits around the strut tower.  So, there was a little bit of guess work involved.  I've done before with another car so I had some ideas.  In the end I got it close to where I thought it needed to be and used a 3" hole saw for cutting holes in doors for doorknobs.  You might ask why so big when you only have the dia. of the bar, but remember the whole flange on the strut bar has to fit through that hole.

Time for some test fitting ...

If you have a solid strut bar like me and you decided to copy my install method, make sure you slip the strut bar through the carpeted pieces first, then install the bar, then maneuver your trunk pieces into position.

I wanted a cleaner look around the cut out holes so it's not obvious.  I took an old piece of black silicone vacuum hose I had laying around and slit it long-ways with a razor blade.

Then I just went around the hole with it.  One minor problem ... I only had enough hose to do one side, :o so I'll have to pick up some more like and do the other side down the road.  Good enough for now.

All done and trunk back together.
