Funky Phil
http://www.projectzerog.com/rx7transmissions.shtml Pro's:Bolts up to the motor. Can be had for around 300 bucks. Uses stock clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel. Hard to break. Lives at high RPM. Near stock shifter location with truck tail housing. Transmissions are plentiful. Con's:Fabrication necessary for trans mount. Shifter sits way back with stock RX7 tail housing. Have to use truck/RX7 TO bearing(considered a con?). Custom driveshaft(as with all swaps). Bellhousing is hard to find. Unsolved mysteries:Speedometer cable, may or may not work. Haven't heard anybody say. This is what I'm going with for my 4g64 DOHC swap. Kane Cons: B2600 bellhousings are hard to find as are complete B2600 transmissions + there are 2 different motors offered (G6 vs G54B) and most parts places are too dumb to know the difference. Might need a slightly longer clutch slave cylinder rod when using a Starion flywheel and clutch. Pro: Speedometer output does work with stock starion dash, but is likely to be off by quite a bit, will post ratio when I get more data. You can order an RX7 Turbo II clutch kit which is the same disk and pressure plate as a Starion and will come with a Mazda TOB.. usually the kit is $50 less too. Can handle 10,000rpm+ as seen in high HP RX7 applications. -----------------------------------------------------------

MainstreaM
they are beat on quite regularly by the Rotor heads. They can be beat on pretty hard and survive. At the rate things are going, I'll let you know in about 10yrs when my swap is done. PM DJPowerhaus, he's rockin one.

4CFEDFDS
Owned way too many rx7's. The tranny you would want would be that of a 87 to 91 TURBO since they are the strongest. Trust me these trannys take quite a beating and can withstand alot of power. Only thing you have to watch out for is bad syncros. Man i love my Rx7's. I actually have like two or three hanging around in my garage along with a whole bunch of rx7 crap and a couple cars.
