  1. Hey, Can I get it on this group? I can send payment immediately
  2. Front and back struts installed after 165K miles on originals. Forgot what its like to have working struts on car. Also, nice not to hear the creaking when turning the steering well after replacing the front strut mounts.
  3. My OEM front struts are oil based. Before I destroy the original struts, do I just replace with the inserts? Thanks
  4. After a few years of less than optimal performance and mostly sittiing in the garage, I finally have my car running well. Now, that it is running well, I'm turning my attention to the "other" aspects of the car which have been ignored. I need to replace all my struts after 160K miles on an 87 tsi. I'm just using the car on weekends for fun -- normal driving on the roads. I'll have historic plates on the vehicle when I renew in June. After searching the archives, it appears the only bolt in options I have for a factory suspension is the kyb inserts on the front and the mookeeh struts for the back. Is this correct or have I missed another option? Thanks Bob
  5. Kansas City can get the worst of both the summers and winters -- although lately winters have been mild (except for last month). The Humidity is probably a lot higher during the summer heat than you're used to experiencing -- warm, moist air from the Gulf gets here. Probably windier and more severe weather than in MN. The suburbs are probably similar to Minneapolis. Spread out and generally traffic isn't too bad even during rush hour compared to bigger cities. Looks like you'd be working right down near the river on the east side near 435. You could live north or South. My wife used to drive from Lee's Summit (southeast) to that area - about 20 miles and took her about 25-30 minutes. Living up north would be closer.
  6. The single stutter is the thing I don't understand. Why just one hiccup where it feels like the fuel or current is shut off and then return to a hard pull. I guess I could undersand the bad va cause detonation and the knock sensor killed the juice or something. The actual mechanism of a single hiccup instead of continued bad performance is a mystery to me.
  7. Can anyone explain to me why a bad vacuum advance causes a single stumble under wot? I have a black 87 TSI (161K miles) I bought new in 1987 which is now running great after I replaced the vacuum advance (2nd time in its lifetime). I've never quite understood why the vacuum advance causes the single hiccup around 3k and then continues to accelerate. Thanks
  8. Quality product. I now no longer leave oil spots when I park because of Johnny's oil cooler lines. Thanks
