Valve body upgrade?

From where?

Any companies making them?

No companies. its not a new part, just modifying an existing one.

You can PM Balt above as he does (or did) them for folks for a fee.

You can also do this yourself with some effort. The instructions are found on starquest websites if you look. Or you can google L4N71b valve body

Can I do the same mod on my D-50 truck transmission? I have a 1988 D-50 custom cab 2wd auto, and I want to find a shift kit or mod for it, to give it a faster shift, and harder shift. Edited by kstokes606

Actually found a youtube video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIs5d1GWXUM

that is not the same transmission. our cars have a L4N71B transmission. And no one in the US makes a "shift kit" for our transmissions.

While the valve body upgrade from that trans may work, it may be a horrible mistake. I called Trans-go myself and asked about any upgrades for our transmissions and they said the mazda counterpart has a shift kit available but ours does not and it will not work on our transmissions. So I wouldn't recommend it. But maybe they just never tried it?

Ok, I thought that was going to be a long in depth video, not, one reason it won't work...the music is all wrong!

But seriously, that is nothing like the mod for our tranny, first of all if you go and start taking the valve body apart...which it didn't show, your going to have tiny parts falling all over the place that you may not be able to figure out how to get back in the right place.

And I don't have a separator plate in front of me to compare to the

one in the video, but the mods to that are completely different, and one spring in one valve? not a mod that I'm familiar with

for our trans.

Yea, the valve bodies in our transmissions have two small ball bearings and springs that push against the separator plate.

I took my original one apart thinking that was the reason the transmission wasn't working, so I got some first hand looks at the valve body assembly.
