Moded Valve Body, anyone need one?

sourcelx says the VB I sent him isn't going to be needed, he has other issues with his engine so it's not worth putting this VB in, so I'm going to give him his money back and he's going to send it back to me.

It's actually been returned to stock, this is how he wanted one, all the hard shifting mods removed, but it's better than a stock one after I go through them, I have sold a few of these to members on here.

So I'm going to offer it as it is, or mod it back to it's u-joint breaking state, or somewhere in the middle, level 1 2 or 3, whatever anyone wants, I charge $75 plus your old VB returned to me, I have pictures on how to take one out if needed.

I didn't put this in the "for sale" forum because all of us auto guys hang out here anyway.

boys understand what your saying,, you are gona break sooner or later esp if the bands are already sliping,, a mild up grade in the shifting pressure makes a huge diff, very few of you need a stage 3 , just a heads up for you guys that can not build their own trans,, also rebuilding these autos isn't all that hard to do most any one can do them and have them work fine ,,much easier then rebuilding a 5 spd trans

it's just like runing a 5 spd,, run it hard and beat on it and expect to do repairs,,

Your right Shelby, the level 3 is a bit over kill, I don't even really like it, when I get a chance I'm going to re-do mine down a level, unless your an all out speed freak who takes it to the track every weekend I would go with 1 or 2, and still make sure everything else is going to hold up.

Wassabe Balt! Looks like I'll be turning to you for a vb. I don't know if it's my bands or a neccessary vb mod but my auto stops pulling at 4k through all four gears. I did a 16g swap last week and expected a little more "warp speed action" than I had with my 14. Not that I want to redline it but 4k is just the beggining of a 16g peak-from what I've heard. What do you think? I have a fresh 5 speed itching for a connection. Have you had a chance to get that color code? Let me know boss

Thanks again, Rob

Yeah, no use putting a good VB on if your tranny has a lot of miles on it and is slipping because it's just worn out, how may miles on yours? and no, not yet, but I haven't forgotten about your color code, I'll get it

If I was interested in one, how soon could you get one modded to me? I'm looking at swapping my old auto out for another working one, so I could get you a stock vb relatively quick. A 1 or 2 would be fine for me I'm sure, I'm not planning on running anywhere near 20psi or racing....

Just checking back with you Rob. My car has 136k on it and pulled strong/hard up until the 16g was put on. When I tested the 16g, it was sweet! The car flew for the first few days but it has since then lost its grab. The fuel system has had the filters replaced back in December but I haven't checked anything besides that(fuel pressure, ect.+TY Shelby). I know I need some injector clips but the auto works fine. I've read some comments on before and after swaps and the question of whether to swap or rebuild crosses my mind everytime I hit the hay. I've rebuilt my Crown Vic's AOD and a few other that I can't recall and feel confident in the rebuild of this one. Now, the big question is- what parts to use in the stock one's place. I will send my VB to you for a stage 2. I've asked Shelby for some suggestions, do you or any1 have some info to share on this L4N71B tranny rebuild?

PS-My car is primed but I'll be blocking it over the next couple weeks. I'll pm you when it's time for paint=2-3weeks. Damn EPA is enforcing water-borne paint in CA in july!

Thanks, Rob

Theres a post in this forum on some better parts for our trannys, just look down....oh wait, maybe it's gone now with this new site.......nope, there it is, look down untill you see the "HiPo Frictions" post.

I have had mine out changing the OD band and as long as you had all the specs and some good instructions I don't see rebuilding one of these a big deal, I have rebuilt old Mopar 727s before, not that big of a deal, the hardest part is getting the thing out and putting it back in!

Is there a big price difference? I don't know of anyone on here who has gotten into all the aspects of rebuilding one of these autos, you do it and then you become the resident expert on here! ;)

I definetly sure I'm going to be needing one of these soon. I'm planning on doing a 4g64 swap soon and bolting the stock auto right up to it. When I was still running my throttle body I had the big 16g ported on there boosting about 18psi. I'm planning on keeping the same turbo but I'm obviously going to be making alot more horse power now. Probably in upwards of 350hp or more. So do you think i should go with the number 2 high modification? And Is it just me or am I the only one I've seen doing a swap like that on an auto car???

Just make sure the rest of the tranny is up to it, the VB mod is only something that will prolong the life of what ever you have in the first place, and give you firmer shifts
