y2ktj1
Hey all. Just got an 87 Conquest. It needs a bunch of work... A bunch!!! But that's why I bought it. I needed a project to keep me busy. I've already started on a few things... Rebuilt the turbo, replaced tires, fixed a few cosmetic things and so on. I'm no mechanic and I will be looking for a lot of advice and info. So far this looks like the place to get it. To start with I'm trying to figure out why the engine temp gauge isn't working. I've already tested the t-stat, and the 3 thermistors near the thermostat housing. All seem to be good. But I don't know which one is for the temp gauge. There are two single wire and one 2wire in the pic. Any help would be appreciated.
TexasQuest
Welcome. The temp gauge is the lower left in the picture.
pcristquester
Your a brave (or rich) one! These things will make you a good mechanic or a hack and quitter, hopefully the first one. Welcome
y2ktj1
Thanks Texas. Gonna try tracing the wire and make sure its not cut somewhere. The sensors seem good, but the gauge doesn't move. Thanks pcristquester. Definitely not rich... Probay a little insane... But that helps with the brave part.
CarlosFley
Welcome! I had the same problem as far as my temperature gauge also not reading right, and it was really just some corrosion on the connector making it give some bad readings. I'd just check for corrosion at the connector and if present try and cut back the wire until there is no more corrosion and then hook it up to the sensor. It could be as easy as that

y2ktj1
Thanks for all the welcomes and the info. I work a ton of hours so on my down time I've been trying to get some of the major issues figured out. I'll tell you that I've been on many forums in the past (Jeep related) and have never gotten quite the positive responses like here so far. Seems like we have a good group of people here. Thanks.
