Cant find my 84 service manual after the move.....boxed up somewhere.  Lost control of foot/face/defrost control on MANUAL system at Jimmy's meet.  Now just vents.
Just trying to figure out where to start probing around to see what broke or got disconnected.  Any chance someone has those pages digitally or even better a pic of a manual control blend box?  Thanks

BuGG got me the digitals....thanks.  Still love to see some actual pics if anyone has them though.  May be time to invest in a cheap endoscope/borescope too... see if I can get a view of the issue

I would pay close attention to the feel of the control slider. If it seems looser, then it broke on the control end. Same or tighter feel, and it broke on the other end of cable. Either way, it seems to me that the cable either broke or came detached on one end.

I probably have some pictures, but on a hard drive that I don't have access to at the moment.

A better description could help too. Like, where does the fan air blow? Or is that what you mean by only vents? The fan air is only blowing through the vents, or is it just vent air?

Yes, fan air only through the face vents with MAYBE a slight bit through foot vents.  The slider feels just as tight as it always has on the controls, so by your logic i may be chasing an issue at the box end.
