Hello everyone, I didn't really know where to post this but here in the performance section. I was going through the attic bringing down the last of the parts and found the Mitsubishi box that my 4:22 gears came in with the part number. I'm not sure if there is already a post on this but I wanted to give this information to anyone who may find it useful.

Mitsu 4:22 gear part number - MB527151

Many sites are showing no longer available and some are showing them available. I really have no idea whats still out there on a dealers shelf but if you do some searching and calling you may be able to score a new OEM set like I did years ago.

Hope this helps someone out.

Just saw this and found my file on this too. Several more listings for these per several sources. Each I found as of late 2013 were NLA or wanting $600+. Used can be found for much cheaper. You may need shims from donor &/or SQ pumpkin so getting the whole rear from a yard might be your best bet.

--------------

If you are shopping for NEW OEM parts, these are ring/pinion sets that will fit any LSD starquest unit:

3.545 = MB185460

3.909 = MB185461

4.222 = MB185462

---------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are looking for used parts in a junk yard:

Montero with leaf springs: 83-87,

Montero Sport: 3.0: 2WD: 97-03:

4.222 = MR162749

Mighty Max:

2.6: LWB/2WD & 4WD: 87-89 or 4WD,

2.4 LWB/2WD & 3.0 SWB/4WD: 90-95, 2.4: 2WD: 96-99,

4.222 = MB185462

Mighty Max:: 90-95, Mighty Max: 3.0 LWB/4WD: 90-91

4.222 = MB527248

Tim C:

"Look for the '86 - '89 (maybe later) Montero / Raider / Mighty Max. Look at the plate in the engine bay on the firewall. It will tell you the ratio. Then test it with the tires / wheels off the ground. Spin the diff and count the turns of the shaft compared to one turn of the passenger wheel. Should be just over 4 turns on the yoke.

I've never seen a bad set, but did have one where the assembly wouldn't spin by hand at the yard, so that one was most likely bad.

3.90's are more common and fit much better in the housing."

'94 Isuzu Rodeo 4x4 4 cyl...some of them come with 4:22's.

Most of the Raiders (to '89) and Monteros all the way up to 1996 are 4.69 ratio
