  1. This may be a stupid question to ask but I am not an 4 cylinder man so much of this engine is new to me. Will any engine rebuild kits for a G54B work for rebuilding mine. I have found several for that engine but not for the Conquest. I found one for the 1981-1989 2.6L DODGE D50 PICKUP G54B SOHC 8V (RWD). I had read in a post that these interchange. It is a complete rebuild kit for $281. For the time being I am just trying to get this thing on the road and will work on upgrades as I go. I am not sure about the compression ratio and the effect of the turbo? Engine kit I tried to make a link to click on but not doing so well with it. Thanks in advance for your help. Sorry to be such a pest. If you get tired of me asking all these questions just tell me to shut up and to go away.lol Mizumo Auto parts
  2. That isn't anything but the rebuild kit. No labor or machine work. I am not sure about the (brand) I will have to check on that part. Thanks
  3. Thank you for all the replies and great information. Found out today that not only is the head leaking but the rings are shot as well. It runs ok at normal speed but if you get in it hard there is so much blow by caused so much pressure in the crankcase that it blew the dip stick out and gave the engine a oil bath. So, now I am looking at an engine rebuild anyway. Priced a complete rebuild kit with everything today for $629. Does that sound like a good price? Bearings, rings, pistons, cam, gaskets, oil pump complete kit.
  4. Haven't checked anything as of yet. Going to try to check a few things sometime today. Long week of night shifts and the car is over at a friends house right now. Thanks for the advice. Will check that. I am hoping a can of sea foam will help if it is the injectors at least for now. I am pretty sure the head gasket is bad also. Guy I bought it from just put a head gasket on but when I asked me about having the head shaved he said are you suppose to do that??? So, I know I have a leak there or will in a short time. Just have to find a place to start and go from there.
  5. thanks for the help. I am located in Mooresville. About 30 miles from Charlotte. I will soon be starting on the Quest. I have almost finished my Chevelle rebuild.
  6. Just bought a 87 to play with. When you first start it, it runs very erratic. Shakes the car apart but then after it warms up it idles and runs smooth. What would be the most obvious things to check first. I know very little about these type engines. I play with the 383 stroker in my chevelle. Old School stuff. Thanks
  7. I just purchased a 87. I was wondering if the climate control unit as well as other interior parts from an 88 & 89 would interchange with the 87.
