Well, if you wanted an 89 5-speed Fiji... an MPI one at that, you should have said so.  Pry mine out my hands - everything has a price and is for sale!  :)

Seriously though, this is a good deal for an 89 Fiji Auto to restore to glory.

Yes FPR has been replaced a few times in 25 years. None lasted as long as the original. Someone asked about rust and I will pull the car out this weekend to take pictures from underneath and the wheel wells for those of you wanting those details. I also just remembered that the torque tube was making a weird sound and at that time it was replaced after I got the car, that happened maybe in 1994, by the local Mitsubishi dealership. I will also get a list of the extra parts that I will give the buyer.

Nothing wrong with it now, that happened back in 94 and I just wanted the buyer to know about everything replaced on the drive train.

^^ I would love to buy it but I think the owner/seller is only entertaining offers from people nearby.

I have multiple friends nearby who can view on my behalf, I've already obtained quotes for transportation across country & insurance, and have offered to send a deposit over PayPal - but no response to my PM :o :P

Yeah I think he wants cash in person. In doing it that way you have limited buyers. It would be a 1800 mile trip for me there and back.We did a 1900 mile trip to Tucson back in June in three days and it was killer .That's in a car 15 hours one way.Shipping would be a lot easier.Somebody will get lucky.

From the original post:  "bring a trailer and with a little work, you can have this back on the road where it belongs. Feel free to ask any questions. Looking at best offer over $1,800, must be a StarQuest enthusiast, and prefer a local person with trailer. If Out of State, please arrange for trusted local StarQuest specialist come and inspect."

So, if you can have someone trusted to inspect and pick up, just have them bring the cash.  As I stated before, this weekend I will pump up the tires to move on onto more stable ground to take pictures from the wheel wells and underneath and will also create a parts lists of things that will go to the buyer.

Please feel free to ask any further questions. PM me if you want to arrange an inspection. Weekends are best.

That's the thing .Isn't like there several starquest guys living close to look at it.If the car is what is stated in your ad most will pay you through PayPal or send it and have a transport to pick up.We as a club try to trust everyone in transaction although some get burned. So I am just saying may not need a inspection done just do a deal and have it picked up .Your happy and the new owner is happy.

Ok, As requested, I was able to get the car out and lifted before it started raining and got some detailed pictures of the usual rust locations. While the wheel wells look good, there is considerable rust on the passenger side frame rail, so I would recommend that new owner repair. One of the wheel wells have a couple small puncture holes but they don't look rust related because the metal around it is solid and looks more like me or the previous owner ran over something that shot out of the back of the tire. Another picture shows a close up of front spoiler, detailing the worse scrape wear, and paint crackling where it flexed. I have added these and other pictures to the album link in the previous posts and also added picture of other stuff that is included with the car. New pictures include fan conversion kit to go from electric fans to thermostatic fan, a complete and final edition of dealers 1989 Chrysler Imports Parts Catalog for passenger, truck and sport utility vehicles, a backyard mechanic quick "common troubleshooting" binder that I put together from this and other StarQuest sites, new brake master cylinder (without reservoirs), working original AM/FM Cassette radio, new brake hoses (I think they are for the front), the original 8 way adjustable struts, lower motor shield, OEM black Conquest floor mats in good condition just need a good cleaning. I couldn't find the NGK wires, but did find a set of NAPA Max Wires, a pair of injector connectors, and a Actron triple electronic gauge set from the early 90s that I never installed, but matches the car well. I also have a high quality head gasket set somewhere, but still need to find it.  Please review and let me know if you have any more questions on the vehicle. I am still waiting a bit longer to see if someone local makes an offer, if not, I will then be moving forward to out of state offers.

Has it been a PHX car most its life? From the pics it's hard to see the extend of the rust of the chassis rail - I see the flakey crustyness but is that definitely large rust flakes and holes behind it?

That frame rail is rusted out but usually from the a/c drain running down the rail.

I added a couple more high res pictures, showing the rust spot on the frame rail. The circular hole toward the front of vehicle is what I believe is the normal frame hole for the A/C drip line and behind that is the rust damage. Another photo shows the rest of the floor plan which looks solid. I did buy the car local here in Phoenix back in the early 90s, I think 1992 and it was registered at that time previously in AZ, but I really donít know anything before that time. Please let me know if there are any other questions I can answer.
