I have belonged to many car forums over the years and used this one for information. I have tried to search for requirements so if I have to be an active member with so many posts or time on the forum. Please accept my applogoes and delete the post. If it's acceptable to post this I would reall like to find my Starion a caring home. I was in love with 80's Era cars and this is the last one I have left.

LOCATION: Phoenix Arizona

SHIPPING: I will not ship but will pick you up at the airport or consider delivering it to a near by state for a fee, cost of fuel, food, and a plain ticket home.

PREFERRED CONTACT METHOD: You can PM me( I will do my best to check back) or for the fastest response please respond through the craigslist add and let me know you saw it on Starquest.

I try to be as thorough as possible in all of my ads. I tend to be as direct as possible, I hide nothing, and do my best to be as upfront as possible. I took the recent photo's with a 18MP Digital SLR so there is no misrepresentation in any way. If you have any questions at all, just ask.

This Starion is an exceptionally clean example. This is a fly here, drive home car. I will do a quick pre-trip inspection, send you with some of the basics just in case Murphy wants to visit, pick you up from the airport, fill the gas tank, and make sure you are good to go. I would really like to find this car a loving home.

Please read through the entire add before making me an offer or asking questions. I have tried to be as thorough as possible.

THE CAR:

1987 Silver Mitsubishi Starion - This was the same car Dodge imported and called the Conquest.

146,412 Original Miles - The mileage will go up slightly. I drive it about once a week to work.

California car all of its life before making its way to Arizona. It had never left San Diego until I bought it and drove it to Arizona.

Owner History: I believe I'm the fifth owner. First owner bought it from a Mitsubishi Dealer in San Diego in 1989, I even think I have the original invoice for it sitting in one of my binders. All of the previous owner's where mature adults who took excellent care of this car.

NO Rust, not even surface rust, anywhere! This car lived in the garage its entire life and has only seen California and Arizona.

Only leak is the high pressure power steering hose which is only a slight seepage (does not drip) which has been there for several months. I have not had time to address it but nothing else on the car leaks anywhere. This is a slight seepage and doesn't drip to the ground at all. I've never needed to add fluid. It should be addressed at some point but it the only leak anywhere on the car and it doesn't effect it reliability or driving. I'm not going to hide anything so I wanted to mention it. If it is a major concern I may consider fixing it as part of the sale.

Exterior: Paint is in Excellent condition. Previous owner had it repainted. Car is a beautiful silver. It's waxed every 6 months, washed weekly/bi-weekly depending on my schedule, and if I actually drove it that week. The car is always garaged and I throw a car cover over it if I have to park it outside so I can work on other projects in the garage. Only dent, ding, or scratch you will find is on the passenger side door, almost looks like a ricochet from something that hit the door. It's the size of a Nickel. You can see in the pics, it's not a huge eye soar, but it's there, and I'm about full disclosure

-Front center panel is removed to help air flow and cooling in the hot summer months. I do have it and it's in perfect shape. It does come with the car. It's easy to reinstall but the extra air flow really helps out when I drive it through the hot summer months.

-Front lower Bumper is cracked. This is extremely common on all of these cars, so common that any other starion I looked at when I searched for mine years ago had the broken bumper. I looked for years and couldn't find a new one for replacement. So I bought the best one I could get. It's not trashed but it's cracked. You can see this in the pictures.

Interior: Near Mint.

-Has a perfect dash - I only run a dash mat because in the summer months I occasionally get glare off of it depending on the suns angle. I'm pretty tall so I think this has something to do with it because other drivers have not had the issue.

-Double Din Kenwood Deck with upgraded speakers.

-Leather is in amazing shape. I clean and condition the leather in all of my cars regularly. The leather is still 20+years old but it doesn't have any cracking or unusual wear. - See pictures.

-Gauge was refurbished and has blue indigo in color. Looks nice and is not ricey.

-LED Dome Light

-I installed blue LED's in the foot well area when you open the doors they kick on. It allows you to find things at night without messing up night vision. Can be easily removed if it's not your style.

-Factory steering wheel was extremely worn out and was replaced with high end aftermarket Grant Steering wheel. I searched for quite some time for a nice factory wheel but they could not be found so I settled for the nice Grant Wheel.

Unlike Many Starion's or Conquest's you find: EVERYTHING works in my car.

A/C and Heating:

Everything works like it should with no leaks. Ice cold A/C is a must in Arizona and heat for the occasional cold morning. My A/C system has been completely gone through and works as it should. Perfect heating and cooling in a Starion is hard to come by. I planned to keep this car for many more years and poured the funds into refurbishing the entire system. I drive all of my cars year round so A/C and Heat are a must in all of my vehicles.

Tires: They still have lots of tread on them and they will make a trip. They are starting to get up there in age. I planned to replace them next year or 2 simply because of age. Nothing else.

Battery: 6 Months old.

Power, Refinement, Performance:

-Rebuilt engine and transmission.

-Car has been kept fairly stock.

-Only performance mod was an exhaust due to age and noise of the stock one. I'm running a Magnaflow Muffler at the back. It sounds good with no drone.

-Newer alternator 6 months ago.

-New Fuel Pump 2yrs ago

-New Clutch 6 month ago: Clutch was a LUK.

Brakes: All lines have been completely replaced and brake fluid is a little over a year old.

Suspension: Previous Owner went through the entire suspension before I bought it. He lowered it by 2" and did it properly. The springs are aftermarket, not cut stockers. Ride quality is still very nice and there is no clatter typically found with improperly lowered cars. Alignment is good. Car needs nothing.

Things to Note:

-I really tried to keep this car in excellent condition while staying as close to stock with my modifications. I wanted it, unique, safe, fast, and most of all fun. The list above shows this. I'm sure I'm forgetting something but I own lots of cars and have done so much to keep this a pristine example.

-All maintenance is up to date. I take great care of this car and it screams pride of ownership. I have not seen another one this nice, in a very long time.

Extra's:

-This car has a Viper FM 2-Way alarm with 1mile range.

-Binder full of receipts and things from the cars life with multiple owners.

Thanks for reading the ad!! I'm asking $7,000 cash BUT I will entertain offers. I will also take partial trades for some items if it helps find this car a good home. So let me know. The worst I can say is no.

Beautiful car man! I'd love to bring it home to San Diego, but price it steep and already have a second one in restoration mode. Was the original color a silver code? Looks like a somewhat noticeable difference where the fenders meet the engine bay, but could be just lighting and angle of the picture. Also looks like the climate control panel was changed to 88-89 style. Again, very nice car. GLWS and glad it was the last of your 80's style car to part ways with. They deserve that kind of love

@pcristquester:

Thanks for the kind words. I understand having multiple cars. I have also moved on to other projects so this one must finally go. Price maybe a bit high to some but it's to cut down on the dreamers and tirekickers. I searched on Craigslist a lot for cars comparable and everything I found was the same or more money anytime I looked. Most ads are also horribly written without any details to justify the price. It is important that this car finds a good home. If someone (preferably an enthusiast) is interested, that will give this car a loving home I'm willing to entertain offer's.

Your first Question: Paint code is silver and it was a complete repaint. I don't come across many Starion/Conquest that have original paint in good shape at all. They either have been or need to be repainted. These pictures where taken in the bright Arizona Summer sun. It really helps show any imperfections.(It's why I do it) Paint is consistent throughout the car. There is a lot of Arizona dust around the engine bay so maybe that is causing you to question the color?

The Climate Control Panel: I did overhaul the interior in this car several years ago. Can't remember what year the donor car was but I got a lot of parts out of it. Check out the other interior pics. She sure looks nice inside.

Yes, they do deserve that kind of love. Any car of this age, in this kind of condition need to be cared for and enjoyed. That's actually why I've been a little picky about where she goes. I did have a local who was willing to give me close to my asking price, but when he told me he was gonna strip it for the track(because it was RWD and Turbo) I just couldn't bring myself to do it. So it sat in my garage being driven on weekends.

@Xtreme Industries;

Your First Question: I have posted the best picture of the rear hatch I have below. The Craigslist add has a lot more pictures in general. For a serious buyer I'm willing to take more specific pictures but I thought I had taken enough to cover everything.

Alignment is fine. Car doesn't drift and has no unusual wear. I believe I had it checked last year.

Pictures of Frame Rails? What exactly are you looking for? Got an example?

Accident History: I don't recall any when I purchased it. I am happy to run carfax on it again to be sure for a serious buyer. If the car was ever in a serious accident I have not seen any signs of it and I've been through this car, top to bottom over the 5+yrs I've owned it.

I need the garage space and I really want this car to go to an enthusiast who will appreciate the time I've put into it and enjoy it as much as I once did.

$6,000 cash. This is a great way to spend the money you get back from Uncle Sam

Anyone that is out of state and considering this car I will pick you up from the airport. There is no surprises with this car and it will make the trip.

This car has attracted more tire kickers, dreamers, and time wasters than any other car I've sold in the last 5yrs. I'm growing tired of dealing with people who don't know enough about the car and are looking for a joy ride.

I'll take $5,500 from an enthusiast! I'm off this Friday and Saturday. Someone come get this beautiful car! I will pick you up from the airport if necessary.

Well this beauty is still here, it had plenty of interest but no one finally came through with cash. It's practically a garage queen now. I drive it ever 2 weeks about 75 miles to keep her in great running shape. Car is still here and I would like to see it go to an enthusiast. Depending on the distance I will deliver for a fee.

you might have better luck selling if you were willing to ship.

I'm happy to ship if the person comes out and see's it in person, pays me in cash or cashiers check. But I'm not in the mood to get scammed. Car has been listed here and on craigslist for months with no serious party who actually comes through with cash to wave in my face.
