Summer is coming and I am sure people are getting ready to bring out their Conquests and Starions more and finally have good weather to do upgrades (at least in the northern climates).

So I have a steady supply of Strengthening Pans available. Made in thicknesses of 19mm for $109.95 or 12mm for $94.95. Includes mounting hardware, Loctite etc. Even added some bling.

Website created for easier ordering. Paypal Cart etc...

Get the info here: www.tuffpans.com

Call me ignorant, but what exactly do these things do?

its the pan for the bottom of the transmission. Our trannies are known to have weak cases, so, to strengthen the case, you put a thicker, stronger pan on the bottom which stiffens the entire thing.

In 88, Mitsu did this to the stock tranny, however, it was only about 1/4" thick, whereas this one is almost a 1/2" therefore increasing the rigidity of the trans case, thus, making the trans stronger.

Is this a limited time thing or ongoing? I'd like one as well, but budget it tied to other stuff.

Plan to be on-going as long as there is demand, Thanks!

FYI a guy in Australia is running a 430ft/lb torque engine thru a KM132 with one of my 19mm pans and is really happy with it.

I don't think I really have a choice.

I'm going to have to buy one or it's only a matter of time until my '86 tranny explodes.

It may only be a matter of time regardless, but this will hopefully extend it's life.

You have an order to ship :)

It should be noted that these pans require you to grind a small amount off the bottom backside of where it mounts to the tranny to get it flush. There is a small casting flash that needs ground off. Not a big deal AT ALL. Took me all of maybe 5 minutes with a dremel. I saw this in the writeup for install but I bet a lot of you didn't look at that ;)

There is a bunch of variation on where Mitsu placed the gasket surface on the transmission. I have 3 transmissions and only 1 (the one in my truck) needed to be ground for the pan to fit. The other 2 transmission gasket surfaces are slightly raised above the casting and the TuffPans fit without grinding.

Thanks for the complement! I'll keep these around for as long as there is demand. TTT

I just found this post....An I hate to knock your Hustle

But I have heard that the Starion Tranny is strong enough stock there is a site I found a while back Homemade site where they changed the RX7 Turbo II Tranny three times and turned to are tranny for support form and 88 I don't know about the other years but my Mechanic has always told me the 88 and 89 Starion Tranny's where the strongest and that the auto Starion trannies sucked.

My toyota with the stock tranny did about 400+ horse power with the 50 Shoot and a custom drive shaft to a 74 Datsun pick-up truck rear-end which was later modifed to disc.

I still have this tranny its also form an 88 I had the Starion tranny for about four-years in two different cars its now going back into a TSi with the Old motor form the Corolla the same motor I used to spray.

My mechanic also races the G54B he had and MPI G54B in a Starlet with a Ford Rear-end he was about 526 HP with an 89 Stock Tranny and never had a problem.

He says in his 16 years of racing this motor he has only heard of one Starion tranny failing and the guy who had the Starion was idot he use to do stupid thing with the car.+

No i know the Shaurka Team used a G-Force tranny on the there set-up but they where looking to get the lowest time possible on a 1/3 mile Drag Strip which was the first 4-Cylinder to do 7 Seconds I know other car are doing them know. But the G54B was the first motor to do so.

So my next question will be is this for the later year STARIONS.

Or for any tranny, or for someone trying to accomplish some serious HP gains.

The 88 & 89 have a cast aluminum pan measuring approximately 1/4" thick where as the prior years have stamped steel. The Tuffpans are an upgrade over the 88/89 pan and a considerable upgrade over the earlier years.
