allen405
what the heck do you connect the vacuum hose to? I picked up a pump yesterday because my quest was missing it so I have no clue what I'm supposed to connect it to. Oh, one more question how can you tell if it works? thanks in advance
JustPaus_88TSi
I'd post a pic, but I yanked it years ago. From memory, the vac hose goes along the radiator support and down the passenger side fender to where the ABS canister is. I think it hooks to a solenoid, and then to the vacuum reservoir. To see if it works, I guess you should drive with the cruise control on and go up a steady hill(which will create more load and make boost). If the cruise control stays on, it works. I think it also keeps the vac reservoir filled to control the Foot/Face actuator for the dash vent system.

Indiana
Stock parts have a pressure switch that turns on the pump, there are a few check valves that are directional to in the hoses. Yes the pump and tank are also part of the HVAC system.
Starfighterpilot
Stock parts have a pressure switch that turns on the pump, there are a few check valves that are directional to in the hoses. Yes the pump and tank are also part of the HVAC system. :thread20jacked8wq: Just to add something to Indiana's post. The Cruise Control Pressure Switch Relay has the same part number as the Primary and Secondary Radiator Fan Thermosensor Relays. If your Primary or Secondary Radiator Fan takes a dump on the road in the summer, in stop and go traffic, try getting it going again by replacing the fan that's inop Radiator Fan Thermosensor Relay with the with the Cruise Control Pressure Switch Relay. It MAY help you keep your engine coolant temps down. Of course you lost cruise control, until you replace it's relay. BBUUTT!!!!!!!! The Secondary Radiator Fan Relay went out on me in the Summer of '07, in the middle of a wreck caused traffic jam on I-285 and the outside Temps were about 95 DEG. When the relay went out I saw the Engine Coolant Temp Guage rise dramatically up to about half way between the middle and upper most marks on the temp guage. I pulled off of the freeway. The Primary fan was running to beat hell but the secondary fan wasn't spining. So I thought what the hell. Swapped the Cruise Control Pressure Switch Relay with the Secondary Radiator Fan Thermosensor Relay and the Secondary fan worked. :biggrinumbrella1: Saved me from probably cracking the head or blowing out the head gasket. I went back and checked the Parts Catalog and they both had the same part Nos. For What It's Worth.
