  1. Talk to me about the fit of the motor and 5spd trans. I've got a 1uz with an automatic but between trying to clear the tunnel and steering box I'm quickly running out of room. It's $600 to $1200 just to go 5spd on the 1u, (not counting trans cost) so I'm seriously considering selling it and buying the 5.0. Some advice would be greatly appreciated. Ben btw- any particular year better than others?

  3. Im going to a 1uz V8 and the gauges in the Lexus are all electronic. I was wondering if you 2jz guys had the same problem and what was being done about it. Thanks, Ben
  4. I'd love to have a sunroof and I have no plans to resale. So any advice? How much structural damage does it do? Level of difficulty, best size, etc... Thanks Guys
  5. So has anyone else with a v8 had the oil pan hit the sway bar? I swapped the pans from a rear sump to get off the cross member, just to have the front sump hit the bar. Lol. Still early in the process so not worried yet. But Im interested in any fedback. Thanks, Ben
  6. Will "rear" 8 inch rims with factory size tires fit on the front? Thanks If so, got two for sale?
  7. Yeah man. It needs to be painted but you can get it. Send me a PM. Ben
  8. Sorry to just now respond, lots of overtime. It's an 87, had the tank cleaned, new screen in tank, aftermarket fuel filter before pump, new pump, (no oem cone now) new fuel filter, new tb rebuild kit, new lifters, new coil and plugs. (no screens above fuel injectors???) I've never checked the the fuel psi, but it will shoot out a strong stream of gas. Have a little top end noise, jet valves I think. (never truly adjusted them after replacing lifters) Car will crank and idle pretty good, but when it starts to warm up it dies. Also, at no point can you punch the gas. Boggs down bad. EGR tube is blocked off, but I haven't installed the block off plate and eleminated associated vac lines yet. I've had the car for almost a year now, but have only been able to really work on it these last few months. before that it sat up neglected for years. Some of the wiring looks pretty nasty. The body is awesome though, and I really want to see it on the road this summer. Be it this motor or a swap. Thanks guys, Ben
  9. New coil and plugs, new fuel pump and clean gas, still wont run for any length of time. Cranks ok, runs ok at first then sputters and quits. Any ideas? Thanks Ben
  10. So I got my 87 for almost nothing. It had been sitting for years. Body is in great shape though. Got it cranked and moving under its own power recently. Woo hoo. I love this body style, but here's my question. Will this ever be a dependable daily driver WITH a/c and creature features, or am I too late? I don't want to invest a ton of money over the next 5+ years in a slow restoration just to run out of parts. Would it help to swap to a 5.0 engine for mainstream parts? Thanks guys Ben
