MainstreaM
Considering selling my Jeep Liberty Diesel. Update 6-30-2014 - more pics and info on my CL ad: http://chattanooga.craigslist.org/cto/4534804115.html http://imageshack.us/a/img833/4967/jeepo.jpgOnly pic right now, more to follow this weekend. It has around 106k miles on it and lots of reliability upgrades Here's the story: Got divorced about a year ago and been split up longer than that. When we split I had a Ford Focus Coupe and she got the 4 door Colorado. With two boys and lots of toys I needed something with more doors, good mileage, and towing capacity. The Jeep fit the bill. Diesel gets around 25-30mpg depending on driving habits and is rated to tow 5000lbs but realistically can handle 7000k. Have pulled my side by side and cars no problem on an 18ft tilt trailer. Couth got to see me drag the Montero back home with it. 2006 Jeep Liberty Diesel Limited2.8L VM Motori engineBrand spanking new timing belt, water pump, pulleys, and tensioner - All OEM componentsAmsoil oil and filters including air filterAmsoil dual oil filter relocation kit with larger filter and bypass filter to replace factory lawnmower size filterFumoto oil drain valve to make oil changes a breezeUnplugged MAF to disable EGR, Diesel soot in the intake is a really bad thing ask any Ford 6.0L ownerNew intake hose, notorious for crackingHas had fuel filter head replaced with factory upgrade (old style was prone to cracking and leaking)Aftermarket in hose thermostat as the factory one has failed open and is not reliableStraight pipe exhaust, factory necked the exhaust down to 2.25 at the muffler, noticeable but not obnoxious5 speed auto transNew perfomance all metal torque converter (Notorious failure that takes out the entire trans, replaced for reliability)Aluminum finned transmission pan with 2 quart extra capacity and drain plugMopar trans fluid was usedTransgo shift improvement kit, firmer and quicker shifts but not at all harshGreen Diesel Engineering trans tune for lower shift points and better lockup for increased mileageUpgraded transmission pumpNew Front differential seals, bushings, and NEW not reman axlesNew timken front wheel bearingsHas drilled/slotted rotors, I believe one is cracked (not cracked, bad phenolic piston in driver caliper) new pads, calipers, hoses and proper dealer brake flush 5-5-14Tan Leather interior, power seats, satellite radio, power sunroof, etcNo rips tears or stains Had planned to upgrade the Turbo or at least get the Green Diesel hot tune for mo powa, never got around to it. ConsRear parking brake backing plate has sheared off the axle so it rattles around. Chrysler used aluminum rivets to hold it on, genius. Was going to put in a limited slip and fix it at that time but haven't got to it.Has been backed into something and the rear door is dented up, spare tire has spacers to even it out. I unknowingly bought it this way. With the tire on, it can't be seen.It has been towed behind a motor home. I found the brackets for a tow bar when I tore it down for the timing belt replacement.Fog light lenses are cracked from rocks, common problemSkid plates are missing, this was owned by a soccer mom at one time judging by the little bits glitter that won't come off the steering wheel. Oil change places/lazy husband and/or boyfriend typically leave them off when changing the oil. I never offroaded it so it didn't worry me. Why I want to sell/trade. Divorce has been over for a year or so and I actually have money to buy what I want. I bought an F350 crew cab shortbed dually that suits my towing needs a little better (was borrowing a one ton to tow a tractor and gooseneck trailer). It gets me and my kids where we need to go and I have a Ford Escort to get me back and forth to work. Would like to sale or trade for a fun car of equal value (Evo, STI, modern RWD, etc) Money still owed so your car will have to be close equal value in the banks eyes. 10,500 obo ThanksKane. MainstreaM
This:http://imageshack.us/a/img822/5344/jeepcluster.jpg Will get you this:http://imageshack.us/a/img266/2237/jeepmileage.jpg Keep in mind I live in the hills and mountains of Tennessee. You flat landers might do even better. Check engine is on due to maf being unplugged. Maf sensor provides input to the EGR system ONLY, it has no bearing on engine fueling or timing. European versions of this engine have no EGR or MAF. I have a SEGR, a magic box, that you hard wire into the jeep that bypasses the EGR valve and provides feedback to the ECU to simulate the EGR valve to turn off the check engine light. Will include it if the buyer so desires. Personally I just pull codes every time I change my oil to verify there are no others stored in memory. MainstreaM
who did the timing belt ? Me. The owner of the local dealership where I bought it is a good friend so he let me borrow the dealer service tools to do it with. I've put around 1k miles on it since it was done. Interesting little truck. I had noIdea they came diesel. To bad I don't fit in them comfortably. I'm 6'2 at 200 and fit fine. Surprisingly a large amount of adjustment in these things. Today I noticed that the AC isn't working all that well, getting it checked out tomorrow. Should be blowing icicles by the end of the week. MainstreaM
AC was a relay. Simple fix and working great. Will get it cleaned up and more pics posted this weekend. Looking to sell soon, tired of making two payments. Extra money could go to paying off my truck faster.
