natedog
I bought this truck a few years back thinking "It's a v6, I won't cram a 4g in it!". Well my mind started wandering and the parts came along and got the best of me... I always had a thing for GMC Syclones, maybe because my first truck was a 91 Sonoma. However I just couldn't make myself buy one. So here I am, building my own Mitsubishi varient... So I'm code naming it "Project Mitsunami". Bought this totaled 3000gt VR4 http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/555053_3496466581252_1972422294_n.jpg So they both came with a 6G72, the car one is DOHC, but the lower blocks are pretty much the same. There was a raised portion on the car block I had to notch off to clear one of the motor mounts, other than that, it all bolted up. The car engine the thermostat on the back of the heads, so I used a 94ish montero 3.5 liter water pump and thermostat housing to move them to the front, as well as some custom fabrication on the rear cross over and return pipe, and the water pipes for the heater core. I'm using a 2005 Galant 3.8 upper intake, bolter to the stock 3000gt lower intake.http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/542753_4775943927386_120680294_n.jpg http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/578940_4775213829134_641063646_n.jpg I used an upgraded clutch pressure plate for a Starion, and a sprung 6 puck disc for the truck from Clutchnet.comhttp://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/382046_4846116241650_104955954_n.jpgThis is it sitting in the truck, before I moved it over to my new place.http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/559027_4869920076731_1267731204_n.jpg I'm using the 3000gt accessories, and rerouting the lines for the AC and power steering, they are on opposite sides from stock with the 3000gt bits, but the lines are actually shorter rerouted. I also went single turbo (tdo6 20g), easier fab than the stock twins, and I think it will be way easier to deal with. The twins could be made to fit, but it would be very tight. The CAS will not clear the firewall, so instead of cutting it, I had 2 choices, first is swap to a 93+ front case, and head to use the separate sensors that the used on the newer ones, as well as swap the ecu. Or as I'm had done, we are making it work form the front of the head. http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/386757_4987231889453_43625769_n.jpghttp://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/3494_4987232169460_1453779644_n.jpghttp://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/538630_10200150880645622_461876445_n.jpg Got it back home now. Just got other things going on...
dmyers151
Awesome. Oddly enough a friend of mine just picked up a MM and texted me saying he wanted to swap it. 6g72 was discussed, but he's a little overly ambitious and was talking full driveline swap. As in grafting the truck body to the car tub.

AshyBone
So that was a v6 mighty max? What transmission are you going to use the stock one? I don't know alot about the MM v6's but I know the 4 bangers had the same tranny as the starquests. I don't know if it'll be able to hold he torque dat thing will put out. natedog
Yes it is a v6 4x4 truck. I had the trans freshened by Sheptrans. They said it looked very strong in stock form, but didn't see anything that would be an easy upgrade for it. I figure as soon as I don't go around doing 4x4 clutch dumps it will hold up. My real concern is the tcase. I can always get an adapter to go to a GM trans. if I need to.
nomad
You should probably paint. " Hot Don't touch " on the tiers the front of the passenger fender. That down pipe will probably get that area kinda warm.
AshyBone
well now I have a trans for my 6g72 into my starion swap lol. All I need to do is get me a roller and get my hands on a trans.

Scotty Dont
Very cool project, what are your horse power goals?
natedog
I don't really have a goal per say. I figure it's going to make a little over the stock 310hp. I'll just be happy to get it running...
