GINASQ
My little (but big) side project. 1979 Mercedes Benz 450SEL Sadly, it's been stealing attention from the Conquest but I can’t help it It's a v8 (4.5) with a 3 speed auto trans. Has almost 330k miles and it runs great, transmission shifts smooth, and it brakes pretty darn well for being so big. It does move pretty well for the horsepower which is probably only about 200hp. It still has all of its OEM Mercedes/Bosch parts which are cool. Right now it has a leak in the radiator that I need to address most importantly and then the valve cover gaskets are leaking. The headlight surrounds are cracked so those need to be replaced as well. And the A/C belts are missing. I'm not sure if I want to investigate if the timing chain needs to be replaced or not lol but if it does I'll do that along with new water pump and pullies. My future plans for the car is to redo the seats, full tune up, figure out how to fix the sunroof, lower it, Nardi wheel, euro lights, get some 16" wheels (Maybe Pentas), and (if I have it long enough) euro bumpers. I really don’t have any desire to get any more power out of the engine; if I did I'd just swap in a 6.9 and be done with it. http://i.imgur.com/bwJVorm.jpg?1 I also have a 79' diesel Benz that has some go fast goodies. Thread coming for that soon. Edited June 21, 2014 by GINASQ
GINASQ
Look at that milage. I have 4 cars and the two Mercedes make up for about 650k miles between the two. Both are 79's. http://i.imgur.com/6vI8gEY.jpg?1 V8 engine is very well put together and the parts are really high quality. This is all OEM stuff. Its a shame that Mercedes does not put the same effort in todays cars.http://i.imgur.com/crnUhJm.jpg Edited May 20, 2014 by GINASQ
GINASQ
Car pulled into the garage next to the conquest designated space. http://i.imgur.com/hNuUwFN.jpg I plan on redoing the upholstery with the same bamboo leather interior.http://i.imgur.com/hfZH2Td.jpg Took the back seats out because they were "a hot mess"!http://i.imgur.com/4Q441Yk.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/LetbEeN.jpg
GINASQ
Driving through the neighborhood to find a spot for pics that wasn't in front of someone's house. Car is pretty long. And the 14" wheels really do the car no justice at all. http://i.imgur.com/GjSSiSn.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/yEyfL1p.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/lSotv8s.jpg
