Skrilla
Anyone have a pic of a widebody with C pillars painted to match the car, preferably white? Thanks
kev
Mine are painted body color; blue. I've seen them white before...personally I think white is two contrasting with the dark windows but that is me. The nice thing about painting the C pillars is that if you don't like them, you just pop them off and put a black set on. That was my thought when I painted mine. I'd say if you are spraying the car, might as well spray them along with it. Kev Not the best pic...http://www.hotrodders.com/gallery/data/500/medium/DSC000261.JPG

kev
There are a little rubber custom molded strips on both ends of the C pillar. If you remove the C pillars, you can peel off the rubber. Shoot the pillars seperate from the car. Then glue back on the rubber strips...3M weatherstrip adhesive works great for this. It's amazing how much the little rubber strip adds to the final look of the car. It's details like this that make a great finished product. TexasQuest
I just masked mine off really carefully and painted them with Duplicolor black trim paint. Looks amazing, like factory new.

Burton
How exactly do you remove the c pillar? I wanted to plastic dip mine but do it off the car There are 3 or 4 Phillips head screws in the hatch jambs, then one 10mm bolt that goes thru the body of the car and screws into the c pillar trim from behind in the area of the triangle. Then there's 3 or 4 clips that snap down into the C pillar, but those clips are very easy to break when pulling the trim piece off. I always take them off rather than tape em.. It will take you longer to tape them off than it does to remove them, and then you can paint them away from your car and not worry about getting overspray all over the areas you didn't tape off. BC_99
Ok, like stated earlier, there are 2 screws under the edge of the hatch into the actual c-post of the car. there is a small bolt under the back of the speaker shelves that goes through to the small triangle portion of the trim piece. get all three of those out and then you have the clips to deal with. You have to slide the trim pieces up or down the c-post (depending on which side it is) to get them free of the clips. The clips can be had from mitsu, but I haven't had any luck finding them at just a regular auto parts store. And haven't had much luck getting anyone to pull any good ones from a partout and shipping them either. I think you can order them from mitsu for a couple $s each. I had the part number somewhere, but don't know what it is right off hand but you can find it in the FSM or parts locator catalogue at http://www.starquestgarage.com/ Here is picture of the clip by itself.http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/bW1jMS9EQ0lNL0NBTUVSQS9TU1BYMDA2Ni5qcGc.jpg I painted my trim panels with the same black wrinkle finish paint I have done all of my other trim with. I like the textured finish on this stuff for some reason. You can see the finish on my cowl trim panels here.http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/fiji/bW1jMS9EQ0lNL0NBTUVSQS9TU1BYMDA2NS5qcGc.jpg Here are some pictures of the back of the trim panels. You can see that they are slotted for the clips to slide out off.http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/20131026_105335_zps8ce61d7c.jpg This is the drivers side, it has to be slid up towards the roof to get free of the clips. http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/20131026_105344_zps8e837216.jpg And the passenger side has the slots facing the other way so it has to be slid down towards the spoiler to get free. http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/20131026_105428_zps77151dab.jpg You can try popping them up with a trim remover, but I just broke one of the slots off of mine trying that and had to spot weld it back on, as you can see in the earlier picture. I hope that helps you some and good luck with it. BC_99 edit: I forgot to add, that after you paint your trim panels and are ready to install them, if you can get the plastic clips free from the car and just slide them back into the slots of the panels then you can just snap the panel back into place and put the bolts and screws back in, which is much easier than trying to get it to line back up with all 3 clips and locking into place by sliding it along the c-post like you had to do to remove it.
