Komeuppance
Limewire edit: seems to work well for others that I've seen. Just neeeeeeeever download ANY software from there. I also heard from a friend that knows a friend's coworker's brother, that uninstalling and reinstalling works. -Robert Edited August 25, 2008 by Komeuppance
vbrad511
That's the beast I'm having issues with. Started having connectivity troubles a while back. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Nothing's changed on my system, so I'm not sure where to look for answers. The tech forums offer help that doesn't work. strang3majik
mine did the same thing...I just unistalled it and reinstalled, works flawlessly...also, you may need to upgrade to the newest version. not that i use this program or anything...lol oh...and for your safety, make sure you turn off sharing in options, and move your DL location to a different folder from my music....that way, its harder to track what your doing....and never use it on a campus internet system... Lusion972
I don't download but if I did I would use bitcomet for full CD's and get the torrents from either torrentpond.com or demonoid.com. If I needed to download individual songs I would use limewire but not the freedownload one they offer. I would download the PRO version with bitcomet that way I could get faster downloads. That's what I would do if I downloaded music.
Fanta
www.playlist.com Easiest way is have Quicktime on the PC and Mozilla firefox. Type in a song in the search. Click the play button to make sure its the song and sound quality. When you're sure, click the visit site link and it'll open in a new page. At the top in a greenish color it'll list the full link with the .mp3 at the end, copy, paste, hit enter, let the song load, click file, save-as Sounds like a lot but its pretty fast once you get the hang of it. Its how I got around campus internet trying to limit illegal downloading

SilverFlatty
there's a way to dl music through google...lol you put: intitle:"index.of" (mp3|mp4) (the name of your song broken up with periods) ex. "stairway.to.heaven" then click on a link...and open up the list of songs...find your song and right click "save as" and you got it
JustPaus_88TSi
take with 1 dose of Peer Guardian to resist infections. I tried PG2 when I first started, and it ended up blocking random websites from me. lol Removed it. I accidentally updated from uTorrent 1.7.7 to 1.8 and all I get now is mad popup warnings from Nortons saying it's catching all kinds of things. Grrrr.. I just want my 1.7.7 back, but now they don't support it. fools!
MainstreaM
I tried PG2 when I first started, and it ended up blocking random websites from me. lol Removed it. It did that to me too, so I would let my DL's run at night while I was sleeping. When I woke up it would be finished so I'd disable PG2, after that I had no other problems. Turbo G54B
I accidentally updated from uTorrent 1.7.7 to 1.8 and all I get now is mad popup warnings from Nortons saying it's catching all kinds of things. Grrrr.. I just want my 1.7.7 back, but now they don't support it. fools! I didn't like 1.8 much either. I just did a search and found http://wareseeker.com/download/utorrent-1.7.7.rar/425120 . They still have the v1.7.7 install file. I had to use Download Mirror 2 since the first one leads you to the uTorrent website where it's no longer available. It downgraded from 1.8 without losing the current torrents.

ColdScrip
If you log on limewire, download your song, and log off there is little chance of catching you. This goes double fold if you don't share any folders or a folder that you keep empty. Limiting your upload speed just in case. Limewire does in fact use a certain port. If your behind a firewall (windows firewall, software firewall like zonealarm, or a router), that port should be forwarded in order to promote having the best download speeds. The port can be set to your liking under options. Edited September 8, 2008 by ColdScrip

on4now4
the safest way to go is to use U-torrent with peer guardian 2 you can change the setting of peer guardian 2 to allow specific IP's so if it is blocking something just tell it to allow that specific site. also with u-torrent you want to make sure that protocol encryption is forced and that you have it set to randomize port at each start. last you want to make sure that you always have the latest version of u-torrent and peer guardian. some of the best places to get your torrents are mininova isohunt piratebay and torrent reactor. iamlew
piratebay is slow, and now that demonoid.com is back online its the best choice in my opinion for filesharing. you have to register, but it is free. If you're using torrents download peer guardian it blocks .edu . gov etc etc just makes it a bit more secure if you think big brothers going t hunt you down for downloading some mp3s =p EDIT Just realized someone already mentioned peer guardian. but hey i'll back it up for you =) Edited October 12, 2008 by iamlew

site
I use Ares for bull crap downloads. Bein using it for 6 years now. never got a letter and never got a bad file. of course i use a dang good av As for torrent downloads i only go to 2 sites inwhich are both private trackers demonoid.com and araditracker I have bein in the pirating scene for long enough to know that trackers such as piratebay and the other ones are loaded with bad files and junk www.torrentz.com is a good searchengine. as it weeds out alot of the bad from the public trackers but you still have to be carefull. always read the comments on the torrent.. If anyone else uses Ares then you know about the rooms Hit me up in pirates paradise same user name here as there can also go to pirates-paradise.com has some awsome software downloads
