Priming oil pump

Recommended Posts

Pack it with a grease that dissolves in oil, change oil filter after initial start. Or remove spark plugs and hook a charger up and spin that motor quick. With no plugs you have minimal pressure on the bearings and it should prime quick.

If the motor is in the car with the pump already installed there is a small allen head plug on the top left side of the engine block just below the head.  That oil journal leads to the oil pump. You can thread a ntp fitting in there and pour oil in very slowly b/c it's a small passage and you don't want a mess and prime the pump that way. BKB94s way is better. This is the "opps I forgot to prime my pump method".

These are awful pricey, but you can get the idea. I built one out of parts they were throwing away at work. Connect it to the port on the side of the engine and apply a little pressure. Once oil is flowing out of the rockers you're good.
