D2- measurement 2 this will help us all out.

Recommended Posts

ok here we go again.

i am ready to do my D2's and would like a measurement.

just take a measurement.

i would like to know what you measured for the front and rear struts.

i would like there to be no fender gap on stock tires and rims.

in the pic below just pic a color of where you measured and post your measurements please..

I wish I had some numbers for you guys, but don't as of yet. I have only done the welding and fabrication side of things. I haven't actually installed them and played with the heights yet. Sorry,

One thing i have noticed is that people aren't mentioning the preload. I assume everyone's d2s arrived with the springs being loose, so no preload at all.

I am not even sure how to say what i set my preload too? Maybe the height/length of the spring? Can anyone measure the height of springs when there is no preload?

What are people using for the rebound/bound setting? I started with 10 clicks turning it clockwise (0 is softest) and found that to be bouncy, i think am closer to mid 20's now and i still think it's too soft at times like during a corner, uneven pavement, or if i get on the throttle i feel like i am squatting too much.

Is there a connection between the preload of the spring and the rebound/bound setting and how the car should handle? I am sitting pretty low right now too, comparable to JohnnyWadd's photo.

I have preloaded my springs some as no preload lets the car bottom out too much. The only trouble now is that the shocks don't have internal bump stops so if the suspension drops into a hole, there is usually a very solid thud when it runs out of travel.

I want to say my front is at .75" preload and rear is 1-1.25. I do feel that my shocks have way too little dampening for the springs they ship with.

The owner's manual says that the preload is set from the factory, but mine was loose as well. I just put enough preload in to keep the spring from moving around in the perches.

I got one of the first kits and the instructions said to just snug the springs.... I'm convinced that adding preload makes the car ride and handle better. What's better is that you can adjust the attitude of the car by chaning how much preload the front and rear has in relation to each other.

This would help if it was Saved in the rims&suspension section.

These measurements can help someone, But when the search function dont work members cant find it!

My preload was not set either.

Also my front tops had to be switched left to right.

I dont have pics of my measurments....but it's not like it would help if this thread keeps getting pushed to 30 pages back in the BS section.....just saying....lol ;)

Any one else take the time to measure in these area's?

Here are the pics, also if you are measuring coilovers the proper way to measure them is using the tan line. Ignore the ugly hdr, it shows the tires better.

Are you rubbing at all? I set my rears to 3 inches and I thought I heard a rub but didn't see any signs of it occurring.
