In Topic: Automatic seatbelt locking?
09 April 2021 - 08:13 AM
The automatic shoulder belts do not have the mechanical lock that a typical retractable seat belt would have. Thus, they will not 'lock' when you simply pull them quickly. They are controlled by a gyro type mechanism. So you could yank these things all day and they will never lock BUT if you brake hard, they had better be locking! If the locking system doesn't function properly, you should be seeing the indicator light on the console and it will be beeping like mad.

I bet that looks good. I know that some members here were having trouble finding perforated leather that matched the original seat pattern...when it came to reupholstering the factory seats.

Welcome aboard, nice car! It looks to be in excellent condition. Love the 86 Starion. I haven't seen an immaculate 86-87 front spoiler in a long time. Even the sunroof seal is in great condition. Any fading on the top part of the back bumper, or the top of the rear spoiler? That is very common with rio red cars.

Those plugs are from rustproofing, It says it was an Ohio/Pennsylvania car most of its life. It is very common up here to get your car rustproofed when you purchase it. Drilling the holes in the rocker panel to gain access was the 'normal' back then. Nowadays, they tend do use the factory hole locations as much as possible and just alter the length of the flexible wand to the delivery gun.
BTW, I think this car looks great! Some minor modifications in the engine compartment (blaster coil, turbo coolant lines, etc) but mostly original. Body and interior look good.
Did notice the engine compartment was painted black in certain areas. It did say that it was hit at one time in the front.
