Broken exhaust valve on my 1995 GMC sierra 5.7.   Bought a new valve from rock auto. Some differences between the two, wanted to see if you guys think it will be a problem. I plan on contacting rock auto right now about it anyways.

indentation on the face of the new valve where old one doesnt have, and new valve has slightly different shape on the valve keeper grooves closest to the face of the valve.

It will work just fine.  Just a different manufacturer.  Slight differences like that indent are common.  Test the keepers on that valve.  If they fit then run it.

If it's same length, same head diameter and keeper grooves in same place, run it.  OH, if you broke 1 valve, I suggest an entire set be replaced.

Also  I replace the intake valves, they are usually thin on margin where you could almost shave with them after grinding,  so new intakes go in automatically,  Chevy valves are cheap.

I only changed the one valve. Pulling cylinder head out on the side of the road For The Win.

I've almost got it back to together.

I have only two words for this job.

NEVER AGAIN.
