You are lucky. My tank had a big pile of nasty, gooey, rusty brown like substance stuck to the bottom of the tank just below the in-tank filter. I used a long screw driver to break it of the bottom of the tank and a vacuum cleaner to suck it up. It was like a brown tar. Then I turned on the high pressure washer and went to town. It came out real clean. I left it in the sun for awhile to dry out. I tried to remove the in-tank filter..............and it just fell apart. As it turned out........the pick-up tube was also filled with the "RUSTY BROWN TAR". >:(

most of us  come some where in between this and the other post "mine was clean as a pin" , while  we  all  hope for  the  cleaner of the two,, the  point is  this needs to be done  to asure  that your  gona  be geting all the  fuel the system will ever  need, so even if the  tank is spotless, it's not  work  done needlessly

..........................Unhook fuel outlet line from pump:  This part can be tuff. Use a  GOOD 14mm LINE or FLARE NUT WRENCH & a GOOD 17mm open end wrench. This fitting is ABOVE the rear cross-member so you don't have alot of room. Hold the 17mm and rotate the 14mm. This fitting is pretty tight and maybe rusty, so use  LONG WRENCHES. ...............................

Just to chime in on this ........on my 1987 quest its a 19mm not a 17mm other than that these are excellent!!!

Oh yeah Great Info Professor ... the order and tips made all the difference...   I tested the old pump alongside the new and there was quite a difference odds are it was going to die pretty soon .... so I'm grateful for your help.
