I have been away a while on personal business, my wife of 42 years passed away from cancer last year so I havent been able to work, so now I have time to create things to occupy my time

I took a wideblock R 154 bellhousing I had built and cut it to the right length for the second gen T56 input shaft, I have been assured that all the T 56 input shafts will interchange, so I will build one housing for one sized shaft

This will be a direct bolt up, re-using all the original G54b clutch parts so there is nothing to buy but a disc

If you guys remember I built a T 56 adapter for the 2JZ from plans off the internet last year, well I went back and had a couple extra's made at the casting shop and re applied the same adapter on to the wideblock housing

I wanted to clean up the old housing because I couldnt use the same drafting tecnique I had used with the R 154, this casting will be created to 'break' in 4 directions instead of 2, this is the way the original T 56 should have been built

Ribs are sexy. something screamin eagle did without knowing it, he sent me a T 5 trans housing and I saw how it was ribbed and drafted and decided to build the T 56 the same way

I just keep adding and subtracting until I get the desired shape and style I am looking for

my sympathy to mr Bill!
May seh rest in peace.
It's very good though tht you try and find ways through your work to ease your pain.
Will the t56 fit without altering our trans tunnels or there must be some massazing?

Bill, I'm sure no words will help heal your great loss, however I still extend my sympathy.

Otherwise I am very interested in this g54b to T56 adapter. Can you please keep me in the loop with the progress and when you plan to have one available for sale.

To verify, this is for the 2nd gen. T56.

? That's the LT1 6speed trans from 93-97 Camaro/Firebird right? (same as Chad's kit)  I have the part # listed here somewhere.

Input shafts are swappable but not sure if the other T56s from Vettes etc line up the shifter like the 93-97 LT1 T56.

this is the second gen T 56 input shaft Posted Image

the first gen T56 input shaft was 5 1/4 inch long, so if Chads flywheel is 2 inches thick, we can place the pilot bearing into the crank and make up for the same distance with my bellhousing that is based on the second gen input shaft and the standard Mits flywheel because the pilot bearing is in the flywheel on the G54b but the ring gear is in the standard location

Thanks Bill - Awesome that you're allowing for either the stock flywheel setup or a one-off version to allow for the Chad T56 flywheel like mine!

Just to clarify this is for the 2nd gen 93-97 LT1 (#1386-000-016)

4L60e ratios
1st 3.06
2nd 1.75
3rd 1.00
4th 0.70
T56 gear ratios
1st: 2.66
2nd: 1.78
3rd: 1.30
4th: 1.00
5th: 0.74
6th: 0.50
3.90's would probably be best for 1/4 mile times, as with 4.22's 4th gear rpms would be getting up there.  4.22 probably better for street performance and clutch life. There are plenty of gear/rpm calculations out there on the web. Some one making enough power to need a r56 for durability reasons, would liky want drag radials to limit wheel spin problem. There are typically around a 26" tire, so factor that in to the calculations.
