Clutch Time on the Flatty....Need Advice

The flatty is basically my DD and I've had a feeling the clutch was on the way out for a while and it's starting to show a little more. I can't justify using any of the clutch kits I've got on the shelf from Comp and ACT on such a low power car, and really want to just go back with a 225mm since I have a fresh 225mm flywheel ready to go.

Now Dan at Comp can put me together a 225mm kit, but there are several kits on Ebay from XTR, XTD, Kupp, and PPC for the non-intercooled 225mm setup from $100-$150. Anyone used any of those or have any knowledge of them?

Yes I know the 240mm is better.....but I don't have a resurfaced 240 at my disposal, nor am I using my Fidanza or Comp flywheel on the little flatty :D

I upgraded to 240mm and the difference was crazy. Way more pedal feel and hold. I have killed many 225mm clutches but I am pretty confident this one will last. I resurfaced and re-drilled and tapped my flywheel to accept the 240mm on my CNC mill. I also removed about 4 pounds of mass from the back side of the flywheel and can notice that it revs quicker. The flywheel I used didn't have dowel pins for the 225mm so I didn't bother with putting them in the 240mm pattern but they really should be there. I am using an autozone clutch kit because I got a good deal on it and do recommend their 240mm kit but it is expensive imo. I have also seen this kit but not used it. It is cheap and looked to be comparable quality to the autozone kit I am using. If there is interest I could do a group run of flywheels on my mill to resurface, redrill for 240, dowel pin options, and weight reduction options. I do have 2 spare flywheels sitting here so if you wanted me to get one prepped for you and use it for example pictures for a group run let me know. I'll make a post in the group buy section now to gauge interest as I have been thinking about doing that anyway. Edited by 83stariontravis
