Retirement present to me, from me. Apparently I love me.

Just pulled the trigger on my first ever new car. At least I pulled it off before turning 40. Got the BMW Military sales price due to my recent deployment so it's not quite as frighteningly priced as it would normally be, but for 300hp/300tq, 0-60 in 4.9", seating for 4 and combined MPG of 25, I'll take it. Apparently the Dinan remap takes it to 373hp/405tq with full warranty for $2k so that's the plan. Take delivery this July.

Edit: Didn't even list what it is. This is the "new for 2015" BMW 435i Gran Coupe in M-Sport trim. I ordered it pretty much as pictured (minus the gawd awful red interior), in Glacier Silver with Technology package (HUD since I'm giving up my Hornet HUD, lol), premium package, Harman Kardon surround sound, M brakes, and black Dakota leather.

Edit 2: 4GC price got too close to the M3 so I changed this order. Finally found decent pics. Apparently no one is ordering this thing in Silverstone Metallic.

Sweet ride, room for kids!

That was the idea, and business lunches. I'm getting out of the Marine Corps so my days of showing up to work in a built 4Runner are numbered. Keeping it, and the starion for now though. We'll see how long that lasts.

So what was the final ticket price on that beast??

Pain man, just pain. Rather not say, but I mean the BMW configurator is up and running so I guess it's no secret. About $56k.

Not to mention that interior shot includes $2000 worth of M Performance parts I'll have to add after I get it in the garage. They don't ship like that.

Why's it called a Gran Coupe if it's a 4 door... f**king Germans...

Yeah everyone is pretty pissed about that. It's even worse if you know the idea behind the 4 series. It's built on the 3 series frame, and was originally released as a 2 door when the 2 door 3 series went away. Now they're adding two doors and releasing it as a "gran coupe" styled after the 6 series gran coupe. It's essentially the 4 door version of the 2 door version of the 4 door version of BMW's mid size sedan, lol.

  • 2 weeks later...

Congrats on the first new purchase. Beautiful car.

Thanks mang. Actually just changed the order to the 2015 M3. A manager at BMW military sales has to approve the swap so wish me luck. The stats on the new M3 are eye watering.

^ I approve! Manual or dual clutch?

Thanks! Dual clutch. Manual is tempting especially with auto throttle blipping, and it's standard so it saves $2900, but it has to be DD practical for my needs and for my wife to drive it from time to time. Doesn't hurt that DCT drops 0-60 to 3.9 sec.

Ordered in mineral gray metallic but here's a representative pic for the "unobsessed" who don't eat sleep and breathe the thing and have images of it on the brain like I've been do lately.

WOW,

Horse Power 425hp @ 5500 rpm. nice inline 6 turbo?

Inline 6 twin turbo. It's the 406tq that got me, and just the laundry list of standard features I was paying an arm and a leg for on the 4 series. Price barely went up.

Thanks! Swap approved. September delivery. If the HP and TQ are underrated as badly as BMW is known for in the M3/M5 it should be close to 400whp. We'll see. Stoked. Edited by chiplee

headin out I take it. Back east?

Back west actually. We still own our home in California and my wife got re-hired at Booz Allen Hamilton, hence the M3. Good work for me there too.
