My 84 Flatty has been dormant for a couple years while I built a house and got moved in, and did a full overhaul under the hood.  Went to tag office today to get tag reinstated and heard the inevitable.  "Sir you owe 2 years of back taxes to reinstate".  Ok,,....how much.  That'll be $2.22 sir

Happily reside in GA ;)  Rumor has it my county outside Metro Atlanta about to ditch 25 year old emission requirement too.  That would be awesome although all my SQs are exempt

It's always been pristine underhood Josh.  Rear main was starting to seep a little and timing set was due, so Pagemo and I decided to just yank engine a do full overhaul on gaskets/seals and check clearances throughout.  At 117k miles but everything checked out like a brand new build...lol.  Other than the missing foam on AC line and paint on the OVCP, she's pretty clean.  Only change I've made since day one is the polished VC and Accel coil undehood.  AC, cruise, and everything else still works like a champ too (knocks wood).  Turbo went on previous owner like 15 years ago and they had it built into a small 16g best I can tell by the wheel (I know, nuts in a non-IC car) but at stock boost levels I have no A/F ratio problems, and the car has never seen more than stock.

I've got to find a vendor for high temp foam to replace the wrap on that AC line for sure.  Stupid working AC   I have removed cats and secondary air system so I guess I have to change my description to heavily modified now ;)

It will be difficult to find foam rubber insulation of the same thickness.  Most you will find will be much thicker.  I wouldn't go the split tube route.  It works ok but the taped seam doesn't always hold well and falls off.  The solid tube stuff lasts longer but you have to disconnect the pipe.  Another option I have used alot is foam tape or cork tape.  Both are easy to find.  Cork tape is a tar impregnated cork strip.  Older cars used that.  It's good stuff, formable and will stick to itself.  But those options wont look stock.

Other than appearance, not having that foam wont make the AC stop working.  The line may condense moisture from the air like the outside of a glass of icewater.  But that's all that will happen.

Just an eyesore of course on the AC.  Grainger sells an "Aeroflex elasotomeric" pipe insulation that's rated to 300 degrees F.  It's also super cheap on the order of $5 per 6' stick.  Not split though and no way I'm pulling a line on a working R12 system, but I may split it an use steel ties.  Even the factory insulation has one if you look behind the turbo heat shield.  Would certainly look better than it does now....lol.  Figured I'd orient the split on the bottom....that way invisible and any potential condensation has a gravity outlet versus pooling in the insulation.
