  1. CO2 is also a very good extinguishing agent; don't let it get anywhere near your engine air intake!
  2. I am running 5 year old TEC-II hardware, upgraded with their new WinTec chip. Bought it used from Chad; so the price was right. Paid a top notch shop (Dynamic Motorsports in Dillsburg PA) to install it for me. The owner of Dynamic had just finished putting a TEC-II in his personal Quest! Even though I told Electromotive that this was purchased as a used unit, I am just stunned by the fantastic level of technical support I have recieved from everyone at Electromotive. They stopped at nothing to help me resolve technical problems that ultimately had nothing to do with the TEC-II unit or their software. (1 Jet-Hot coating on the downpipe interferring with the electrical ground of the O2 sensor 2) D@#% Compaq laptop that won't talk to the TEC) Haven't had a lot of time (experience) in tuning it yet (with a borrowed Toshiba laptop); but I like it so far! Proper fueling of an internal combustion engine is a very complex and sophisticated engineernig problem; a turbocharged application just makes it even more so. I am a techno-geek (degree in astrophysics) by nature, so this is the best toy I've gotten in a long time. If you are better on theory than on turning wrenches, this is the set-up for you! From what I understand, the TEC-III is even more sophisticated in what it allows you to do.
  3. PS Stedabani also makes a nice short shift kit.
  4. I run the front and rear strut tower braces made by Stedebani. They come with integral camber/caster adjusters on the front, and camber adjusters on the rear. Really stiffens up the chassis; don't let the increase in transistional response catch you out! Really nice design. Stedebani is located just up the road from me. I really need to post the photos I have of the custom adapter they made for me. Puts a 68mm Porsche TB on a stock manifold; in addition to drying up the water passages. The guy in charge is a wizard.
  5. I run the TEP brake package: SS lines Semi-metallic pads on the rear Gas-slotted front rotors R4 Carbon Kevlar full race pads up front Custom air ducting from the air dam to the rotors and calipers. At track events running Yoko competition tires, there was no brake fade. With the grip of those tires, the decel must have been over 1.2 G's. The R4's are expensive, noisy, dirty, and wear out quickly; but they bite like a North Carolina shark. (and competition tires stick to the road like a dead rat to a west Texas highway)
  6. I got a total of 20# off the front end of my '89. Took off the front bumper, threw out the foam core (3#), took off the turn signal bezels (1.5# for both), and got the rest of the savings by lacing out the steel beam. Car looks stock; just don't lean up against the urethane skin of the bumper!
  7. I am thinking about upgrading my rubber to 235/40-17 in front and 275/40-17 in back. Anyone have any experience in how wide can you go?
