It's a shame that one is the type II, the type I is much much nicer to look at

AMG also tickled the late '80s Debonair V, though sadly they didn't improve the engine performance. The Debonair V came with either 2.0 supercharged V6, 3.0 SOHC V6 or 3.0 DOHC V6

Yeah the Type 2s were so boring looking compared to the Type 1s. Used to have a set of the Type 1 wheels on my last GVR4.

I hate this video cuz now I want one. Galant VR4 has been on my wish list for a while.

I was wheeling and dealing with a guy for his VR4 earlier this summer, but he wanted me to part with my Eclipse as part of the deal.

Good luck finding a Galant AMG, only 2500 ever built.

GVR4's are getting rare, especially in the southern states. Most of them are in the salt states and are rotted to hell. :(

The guy I bought my Eunos from had a Galant VR4 for sale. I seriously debated it but felt it wouldn't be as reliable as the Miata was. I thought it was priced reasonably too. Clean body, few mods for 8k.

$8k can get you a decent USDM VR-4 - either bone stone/unmolested or tastefully modified. I feel any JDM VR-4 for $8k is going to be the weaksauce pre 1990 models with the smaller brakes and barely any more power stock for stock than the USDM VR-4. The one you want is the mid '90 onwards 'Evolution' model which has the 240HP engine, larger intercooler/turbo/piping, close ratio tranny, 3.909 4-bolt rear end etc.

Clean...has mods

I remember people would crack the bell housing on the transimission when pushing too much power because the car was heavier than the Eclipse...I'll stick to my EVOs.

Uh - that's absolute bulls**t. The Galant VR-4 is barely 50-100lbs more than the same era Eclipse. The cracking in the bellhousing happens because people don't tighten up the 12mm transmission mounting bolt underneath the starter motor. Happens to DSM's too. There are plenty of Galant VR-4s running 9's and 10's without cracked bellhousings. Don't forget that the Evo 8/9/10 weighs more than a Galant VR-4.

yep the bellhousing cracking is due to that bolt or not having the dowel in place either.  The 8/9s are right around the same weight as a GVR4 if I remember right, but the X is around 3,571lbs, basically the same weight as a 3000gt VR4.
