I'm a Newbie to the site and look forward to sharing the joy of the StarQuest vehicles and helping minimize the frustration that comes with 30yo vehicles as well. I'm a Mechanical Engineer living in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I recently purchased a black '86 Starion with an LS swap. The car is a driver and looks decent enough on the outside, but the interior is shot, the suspension is too soft and the modified steering system is sketchy. I was lucky enough to find an '87 Starion for sale 10 miles away. The previous owner complained of overheating and told me in needed towed, so it made for an excellent parts donor car. One problem....It's too nice to just hack it up. The "parts car" starts ride up and drives, and has a beautiful interior with soft supple black leather. My only issue is do I turn the '87 into a drift car or send it on to another owner who may want to restore it. That question will answer itself as my project evolves.
I'm not new to StarQuest's as I did own an '89 Conquest Tsi back in the early 90's. I traded that Conquest in 1995 when I lived in San Diego. It was yellow, automatic, had Eibach lowering springs, a SuperTrapp muffler and side marker lights. It would really be funny if someone knows of that very car.
I have seen some adjustable coil-overs on eBay for ~$1,000 and may go that route to improve the stance and camber of my black car. If anybody has a used set of coil-overs at a lower price I would be interested. If anyone is looking for a part off the gold car, I can entertain offers (so long as I don't need the part myself).
Hope to hear from you guys/girls.
