  1. :o :o Whoa Mommy!!!!!!! not budget not in budget not in budget........... who's making these? are they built to order, ie custom damping for custom spring rates? or do they come as-is? not that they're in the budget 8)
  2. Muffler pictured is a Megan Racing stainless, 4.5" angle tip, smooth case. Bought from sombody on Ebay you don't want to deal with, had to get tough with 'em. Adapted to *DM exhaust with a chunk of Stromung 3" WRX exhaust from a customer car custom fitment. New owner of the Starion had me install a Catco cat and a 2.5" Flowmaster last week, he commutes @ 130 miles a day with it, and the drone from the fartcan was making him mental. Doesn't have the same growl anymore, but much more liveable, and I built the adapters so he can switch mufflers in about 5 minutes. Mod list for the Starion: *DM 3"/ 3 wire o2/ catco hiflo 12A fully ported hot side fully ported/stress relieved manifold (removed 6 pounds!) Lower Shores MBC- sucks, replacing with a TXS 2 stage 1G MAS on a Spectre Honda AHP ala' vilification ziptied IC hoses ala' vilification 1G BOV crushed and reworked for dump to atmosphere ACT stage 2 on stock flywheel Bill's short shifter I posted dyno plots around here somewhere. 217 hp 277ft/lb at 15psi with no time to tweak- clutch let go on the 4th pull, never got it back on the dyno. New owner is planning on a SAFC and some suspension repairs (bad rear shock) and that's it.
  3. :o Those ARE great prices!!!! Thanks for the link!!
  4. Thanks for the responses, I never really planned to cut them, only a last resort and the adjustables made me wonder if it was different than other cars. I'm skipping the eibachs and going straight to Art's coilovers, as soon as I can find a good OEM driver rear strut. Anybody got one?
  5. Me and Julio were chillin in the garage over the weekend and I decided to get a little creative with some aluminum laying around. I love it when a hack job works WAY better than expected- I was just messing around, but this wound up better than I'd hoped! My front airdam was suffering from age shrinkage (hate when that happens!), causing the two outer mounting tabs to tear off and the ends of the airdam to flap in the breeze. Here's the BETTER of the two sides before: http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid104/p73b127da4a341a3b74772f4f11facde9/f989bf52.jpg made a couple simple brackets: http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid104/p171795fc5b334d670e1fadd781150bef/f989bf43.jpg mounted them to the two factory fender bolts so they "pinched" the top lip of the airdam: http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid104/pe9cd3f22ff71875f5de190dc7bce3128/f989bf4d.jpg end result- airdam is now aligned with the fender at the wheelwell edge and is firmly supported from behind. Note that the airdam was so pulled in before repair that the tire contacted it in tight turns!! %C2%A0http%3A//www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid104/p41118c3a0943ef37fe5d49cfe25700d1/f989b750.jpg I may add a brace leg to a third body bolt to triangulate the plate, and I'm considering a blob of Goop adhesive to stick the airdam to the plate, although there's no flapping as it sits. Easy, effective, and best of all FREE!! Enjoy!
  6. You need a better dyno operator. Procedure like that hurts things. I spend more time stabilizing temps before and between runs than I do setup and pulls combined! Promising #'s though, still haven't put mine on the machine, chasing oil leaks and other details first. Hopefully my extensive porting will make up the difference between your 17c and my 12a. : Yeah Right!!! ;D Kelly- 125 shot on the stock bottom end?!?!? What was the rest of that setup- just picked up a complete 125 dry system last week, have the parts to convert to wet. I figured with the stock pistons it'd be a one way ticket to figuring out a V8 swap on this car, but if you sez it works... THAT'll make up the difference to a 17c!!!!! ;D
  7. Couldn't resist... ;D First test drive today (roads were clear). Â Ran perfectly, first try. Â Got a little goosed pulling back into the shop, left a pair of tattoos on the floor. Â Ain't cars fun ? http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid103/pe52009be8681ff7774b15672a2ff2a93/f99fec16.jpg
  8. That right there deserves it's own topic somewhere. Any good reference material on that? Good stuff.
  9. Don't really want to do it, but I wanted to get some opinions. Do the SHP struts allow enough adjustment range to provide acceptable performance with reasonably (1.5" or less) cut stock springs? Or does it all just go to crap? Wouldn't normally ever consider this, btw, but the adjustable valving made me wonder if this was the rare vehicle that you could get away with it on. I'm still shopping for a set of used eibachs, but I'm getting tight on my budget. Any input, especially those who have tried it, would be helpful. Thanks!
  10. That right there is IT!!!! That's a fairly easy mold, too. Somebody needs to make that thing asap.
  11. Are the exterior vents hooked to anything? Ever seen them shaved? Just sitting here looking at them and thinking out loud.
  12. Any more pics of that hood and I'm gonna spend WAY too much money on one! Your louvers look like a million bucks, too. Nice car, nice pics, NICE JOB!
  13. Anyone with tips for removing the waxy stuff sprayed all over the engine compartment? It holds dirt and makes my white car look like crap! Spray on cleaners seem to take it off with elbow grease, but I am looking for something with more kick to it. Haven't resorted to hot water pressure wash- all the exposed wiring on this car makes me leery. Any ideas?
  14. FWIW, I've installed 3 pair of the 3A's seats at my shop (2 Cavaliers, 1 Neon) And am fairly impressed by the quality of construction vs. price. The light blue ones are a fairly hideous shade- be warned! One Cav required me to build complete risers for both seats, as the owner was transfering the stock units to another car and wanted them complete. NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!!
